ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip Color "London Fog"

9:19 AM

ColourPop Cosmetics released their Ultra Satin Lip collection several weeks ago, and I picked up a couple of new shades, including this beautiful blue-toned red, called London Fog.  The texture on these is very light and not gloppy or sticky at all.  I really like semi-matte finish as well.  Not shiny like a gloss, and not completely dry/matte like the Ultra Matte Lippies.

Olive Smokey FOTD featuring CoverGirl's TruNaked Pallet in Goldens

9:10 AM

As I posted yesterday, I am really enjoying this new CoverGirl TruNaked pallet in Goldens.  The colors are just beautiful together, and you can create extremely neutral, to beautiful smokey eyes.

In this look I used the darker side of the pallet to create a smokey olive look.  In the crease I blended the dark brown (3rd from right) with the darkest shade (far-right).  On the lid I used the olive shimmer (4th from right) and also used this on my lower lashline.  To highlight I used the satin shade on the far left.  This color doesn't have much shimmer, but isn't a true matte.  This just brightened and lifted the eye.

Like I've said - a very versatile pallet at a great price!  I would love to hear what you think of these new colors from CoverGirl!

FOTD: Younique Beachfront Bronzer, Opulence Lipstick and Lip Pencil in Pouty

4:02 PM

Back in August, Younique had a Kudo's featuring their Beachfront Bronzer, new Opulence Lipstick in Stuck Up, and Precision Pencil (choice of lip or eye).  I chose a lip pencil in Pouty.

The Beachfront bronzer is a split bronzer, one side a lighter shade, and the other side a swirled mix of two-three darker colors.  Swirled all together it gives a beautiful, non-orange glow to the skin.  I actually use the darker shade as a contour and apply the lighter shade as a blush on days I am looking for a more subdued, neutral look.

The lipstick and pencil are below.  Opulence lip colors are extremely light in texture, non sticky, but very pigmented.  This color in particular is a favorite of mine in the winter months, as it a nice deep shade for my pale skin, without being overly "vampy".  The Pouty lip pencil is the perfect compliment to this color too!

A total look below.  Honestly, I don't remember what eyeshadows I am wearing, but I can probably dig back through my drawers and figure out which ones they are.  I really do love the combination though!

Inspiration: Great Gatsby / Flapper Inspired Hair and Makeup Using

9:00 AM

Every year my company has two Holiday sales meetings back to back - the first one is themed for Halloween and the second is themed for Christmas.  Last week was meeting #1, so I decided to go as a flapper.  After watching tutorials on YouTube of pin waves, I spent the morning getting my hair ready so I could do my makeup while it set.

Most flapper or Roaring 20's type makeup I could find online looked to be smokey eyes and red lips, so I decided to take it up a notch with some glitter.  I used the same eyeshadow as earlier last week (here), but topped it off with Fyrinae's Pixie Epoxy and some glitter I had by Mary Kate and Ashley (remember when Walmart used to carry that?!).  The picture below doesn't do it justice!  This was a lot of fun to wear!

FOTD: Stila Magnificent Metals in Pixie Dust

9:00 AM

A few weeks ago I picked up the Stila Magnificent Metals in Pixie Dust - it's that one eyeshadow, that every time I was in Ulta, I had to go play with, so I decided it was time.

The product comes in a normal, eyeshadow pot, and has a metal mixing pan and Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Eye Primer.   There is a step-by-step process in which to use:

  • Prime: add one drop of Stay All Day® Liquid Eye Primer to the mixing tray.
  • Combine: add a small dab of Magnificent Metals and swirl to blend.
  • Shine: using Stila’s Magnificent Metals Eye Shadow Applicator #37 or your fingertip, gently apply the mixture on lids, blending it out with soft strokes. Build the intensity with additional layers.
  • For more opaque results, apply eye primer directly on lids.

I actually applied my own eyeshadow - using the original Urban Decay Naked pallet here - and then topped off the inner corner and lid with the Pixie Dust.  I was a little bit nervous, due to the "wetness" of the primer, that it may smear and smudge my eyeshadow, but everything stayed true the whole day.  Pixie Dust is absolutely gorgeous, and this would certainly be a beautiful way to glitz up a holiday look without having to purchase an entire new eyeshadow pallet to do so.

The Stila Magnificent Metals retail for $32 on their website.  These are definitely worth a try if you like the look of sparkles and glitter!

My First Review/Attempt at Younique Moodstruck 3D FIber Lashes - I Am Obsessed!

1:50 PM

For several months I have been reading about the Younique brand, in particular their Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lash mascara set.  I finally bit the bullet and signed up to be a presenter (a post about that to follow, including pictures of the kit you get).  Yesterday, when I got the presenter's kit, I immediately went to the Fiber Lashes and decided to play around with the set and see what the hype is about.

Essentially, it's a three step process.  First, you apply a coat of your favorite mascara (I used Mally's Voluminous mascara, because I love how thick and black my lashes are, even with just one coat).  Second, once your mascara is dry, you apply a coat of the Moodstruck Transplanting Gel, which is essentially a black, sticky mascara that you apply prior to the fibers.  Third, while the Transplanting Gel is still wet, apply the black fibers.  Then, you're done!  If you want a more dramatic look, apply another round of gel and fibers!  I actually "sealed" my fibers with a light coat of the gel, just because I didn't know if they would fall out during the day.  They did not.  From the moment I put them on to the moment I washed my face last night, all of my lashes looked the same - rich, dark, thick, and amazingly long.  I am in love.

Here is a snapshot of my full face, mascara and all.  Not only do my eyes look wide open (on about 4 hours of sleep), but they are a rich black, thick, and long.  I love this stuff.  Even if you wouldn't use it everyday (I will), using this for nights out or events, you won't be disappointed.  I can certainly see what all the hype is about!  One other bonus point - this is all natural and cruelty free.  Another MAJOR plus in my book!

If you are interested in purchasing, you can through me (link here).

I am also wearing three of the pigments, which I will swatch and review later as well.  Beautiful colors and payoff - my Presenters set came with samples of both shimmer and matte, as well as concealers and blushes (which I am wearing).  So much to play with!

A Pink and Gunmetal FOTD: Laura Geller and Mally Beauty

9:54 AM

Ever since I opened the Mally Beauty Favorite Things Volume 2, I have been in love with the bright springy lip colors that came in the set.  Bright corals and pink glosses can really brighten a look, and I find myself reaching for these glosses every day.  Recently I have been grabbing Punch, which is a crème pink.

FOTD Using Bare Escentuals "The Star Treatment" Pallet

1:44 PM

My new favorite pallet - Bare Escentuals "The Star Treatment".  Not only are the colors mix and matchable, but they are gorgeous shades, extremely pigmented and creamy, and last all day without a single crease.

I used three of the four colors above.  The Black, gold and copper.  Actually, the copper looks rather muted in this picture, but as you can see below, it is quite vibrant on.

Laura Geller Blush 'n Brighten Grapefruit - blush

FOTD Using Bare Escentuals Bare Luxury Kit

12:07 PM

Today is a really quick look at a FOTD I did using the Bare Escentuals Bare Luxury kit I posted swatches of last week.  I really love the graphite color called Undercover.  It is gorgeous on, extremely smooth and creamy, and so easy to use!  I paired Undercover with Celestine, and then used Stealth as my highlight.  The radiance makes a gorgeous blush as a warm, very pale, bronze color.  In this picture I am wearing the lip color in Wow Factor, which is a warm berry color.  The picture below has better lighting.

I love this kit - a great set for everyday use.

FOTD: Fyrinnae's Red Panda, Arcane Magic Pyromontic Erotica, and STFU

11:58 AM

It's been a long time since I've posted a look I've really enjoyed creating and wearing.  Not only have I just not had the time over the past several months to really spend playing around with my makeup, but I just haven't really been motivated to.  Well, thanks to my son, I am.  He had his toy dump truck full of my Fyrinnae eyeshadows, which he had decided to "excavate" from my makeup drawers, so I took a look and grabbed these three to play with this morning: STFU, Red Panda and Arcane Magic Pyromontic Erotica.

The first picture is probably the best of the entire look.  It's take in natural light, no flash, and you really see the transitions in colors.  The purple eyeliner also really stands out in the picture above, where it's difficult to differentiate in the pictures below.  Regardless, this look reminds me of a beautiful summer sunset, and I'm glad I finally got back to being inspired with my makeup!  I almost forgot how much I enjoy creating these looks.

For the FOTD, here is what I did/used:

Face:
Laura Geller Champagne Spackle - primer
Laura Geller "Real Deal" Concealer - Light
Laura Geller Balance 'n Brighten Foundation
Mally Bronzer - light - to contour
Mally Poreless Airbrush Blush - Afterglow and Purelight

Eyes:
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy - all over lid
Fyrinnae Arcane Magic Pyromontic Erotica - inner corner, and blended ontop of crease
Fyrinnae Red Panda - middle of lid
Fyrinnae STFU - outer crease, blended into the Arcane magic in the middle of crease
NYX candy Glitter Eyeliner - Lavender - ontop of Essence Berlin Rocks

Lips:
Revlon Lip Butter - Candy Apple

Thanks for looking!

FOTD using Laura Geller's Baked Vanilla Nudes Collection

1:26 PM

A quick FOTD using all the products from Laura's Baked Vanilla Nudes collection.

Like I said, I really like the Porcelain BnB - it seems to be the best color for my skintone in the winter.  As the weather warms and I see the sun more, I'll move up to the Fair or Light.  The blush is great.  The colors work well individually to contour, blush and highlight, but I really liked blending them all together for the blush, and using the deep to contour and highlighting ontop of the cheek bones to add a little more dimension.

My favorite is definitely the eyeshadows, though.  I used the Vanilla Toffee on the inner corners and the Black Cherry as the crease, outer corner, and lower lashline.  I also used the Black Cherry wet as my liner.  The mascara didn't do much for me, so I actually gave that away.

Pretty warm colors.  I love them, and yes, their names make them all good enough to eat!

FOTD: MAC Idol Eyes, Skinfinish "Blonde"

9:19 AM

As you can see, silvers, blacks and grays have become a go-to for my makeup recently. I don't know if it's the newly discovered ease of blending with the colors I've picked, or what, but I do really like the look these can create.

After my recent purchases at the CCO, I wanted to try out the new MAC Idol Eyes eyeshadow I purchased. The color is very unique, as you can see from the swatch in my earlier post - it manages to take on a variety of colors from golds, lavenders and silvers, depending upon what it is next to. It is a very shimmery color, so this was right up my alley.

Below is the full do:

Face:
Bare Escentuals Foundation "Fair"
Everyday Minerals Intensive Multi-Tasking
Bare Escentuals Tinted Feather Light Mineral Veil
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish "Blonde"

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
MAC eyeshadow "Idol Eyes" - inner corner of lid
MAC eyeshadow "Black Tied" from Royal Assets palette - outer corner, crease
MAC pigment "Vanilla" - highlight
Victoria's Secret Gel Eyeliner "Black Satin"
Rimmel Volume Mousse Mascara "Black"

Well, we are off to start another week, and this one is going to whiz by, I can already tell by looking at my calendar! Hope you all have a great Monday!!

Bare Escentuals

FOTD: Bare Escentuals Black Diamonds

10:31 AM

After receiving the Bare Escentuals "Black Diamond" Collection for my birthday, I've finally had the opportunity to play around with the colors. They are such beautiful grays, which I've been draw to recently. Chic Diamond and Midnight Diamond work effortlessly together to create a dark look, and they aren't overly shimmery, which I know can be a concern to some people.

To do the look below:

MAC Paint Pot "Painterly" - base
Bare Escentuals "Chic Diamond" - inner corners & blended into inner crease
Bare Escentuals "Midnight Diamond" - outer corner & wet along upper lashline
Bare Escentuals "Heavenly Diamond" - highlight
Lashblast Mascara

I really like the Bare Escentuals Natural lipglosses, and this color is no exception. Its a very pretty color, adding just a hint to the lips, without being overbearing. It is a great accompaniment to the dark eyeshadows in this set.

I also took a picture of the whole look. The blush and the lipgloss are very similar, so they are great together. This blush has very limited shimmer, so I added the Bare Radiance over the top just to give my skin a little life since it's been pretty "blah" recently.

What is your new, favorite, product of late?
Mind is this lipgloss and the MAC "Blonde" Mineralize Skinfinish I bought at the Cosmetic Company Outlet last weekend.

FOTD: Bare Escentuals Pink Diamonds Collection

8:00 AM

A few days back I showed you all the BE Pink Diamonds Collection. This is such a beautiful collection of colors and brushes, that I wanted to put together a quick and simple FOTD, using the "instruction card" that comes in the set.
I love the color pink, but I have noticed that more often than not, the pink blush or eyeshadow that a cosmetics company will put it leans more towards Barbie Pink than something that can be worn by most people, which tends to be frustrating. I mean, pink is supposed to be the color of our cheeks when we're flushed, not the color of her dream home! :)
With that said, I have found that the colors in this collection are deceivingly wearable, although they come off a bit bright in the tube/jar. In particular, the blush seemed to me very bright in the jar, and even when swatched, but when applied correctly with a blush brush or skunk brush, the color is an absolutely perfect, natural, flush. Adding the Rose Radiance over the top gives a little glow and shimmer that the blush doesn't yield, which is just the kick I wanted for this look.
Face:
Bare Escentuals Medium Foundation
Bare Escentuals Illuminating Mineral Veil
Bare Escentuals Pink Diamonds Blush
Bare Escentuals Rose Radiance (over blush)
Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion - all over lid
Bare Escentuals Equisite Diamond eye color - all over lid
Bare Escentuals Enchanting Diamond - crease
Bare Escentuals Elegant Diamond - corners, outer lashline, lower lashline, and wet as liner.
Loreal Extreme Collagen Mascara - black
Lips:
Bare Escentuals Strawberry Cream Lip Gloss (my new favorite!)

FOTD - Dark Smokey Eye

9:23 AM

I have to say that recently with the dark, gloomy and cold weather, I haven't been motivated to do a whole lot with my makeup. I decided to change that and try and dark and smokey look with a charcoal color sweater I had. I found this look to be so extremely simple, yet definitely a bold look, and perfect for any night out! The three colors I used were Fyrinnae "Shinkirou" pigment, NYX "Midnight" eyeshadow, and Bourjois Wet/Dry eyeshadow in "Gris Delicat".

To achieve this look, I used:

UDPP as a base
Bourjois Wet/Dry "Gris Delicat" - inner corner and lower lashline
NYX "Midnight" outer corner into outer crease
Fyrinnae "Shinkirou" as highlight and blended into crease
Mary Kate & Ashley Liquid eyeliner "Black"
NYX Dolleyes Lengthening Mascara - Ultimate Black

For the rest of my face I used Bare Escentuals "Fair" Foundation, Bare Escentuals Tinted Feather Light Mineral Veil, Nars "Lovejoy" blush, and Bare Escentuals Buxom "Ruby" lipgloss.
