FOTD w/ Fyrinnae Otherwordly, Sushi & Sashimi, and MAC Vanilla

3:18 PM

A very quick couple of shots from today's FOTD using Fyrinnae.  For this look I used Otherwordly, Sushi and Sashimi and then MAC Vanilla pigment.  I'm pretty sure I've done this before, but regardless, I liked the look color combination!

For the look, here is what I did:

Face:
Laura Geller Champagne Spackle
Laura Geller Balance 'n Brighten - Light
Nars Blush "Orgasm"

Eyes:
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Fyrinnae Otherwordly - inner corner and along lower lashline
Fyrinnae Sushi & Sashimi - blended into the Otherwordly, and in crease
MAC Vanilla Pigment - highlight
Physician's Formula Gel Eyeliner (Brown/Bronze color)
Loreal Voluminous Power Volume 24Hr Mascara - Black

Lips
Revlon Lip Butter "Candy Apple"

Mascara

Spotted at Meijer: Greatlash Limited Edition Mascaras

7:18 AM

Maybelline's Great Lash has another limited edition display this year, including 4 different colors in mascara.  There is a bright blue, green, teal and purple.  At Meijer they were $4.39 each.

I wish I liked Great Lash more - these colors are beautiful!

FOTD using L'Oreal Infallable Golden Emerald, MAC She Who Dares and Fyrinnae Arcane Magic Futuristic Glamrock

1:10 PM

A few weeks ago I picked up my first L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in a shade called Golden Emerald.  I am a sucker for olive greens, so this one was calling me from the first time I saw it.

These eyeshadows are interesting.  They aren't pressed, but they aren't loose.  They remind me a bit of the MAC Solar Bits - kind of waxy in texture, only the L'Oreal applies a lot easier with a brush than the Solar Bits (for me at least).  This particular shade, Golden Emerald, is one of the sparkliest and beautiful colors I've ever picked up from a drugstore.  It actually reminds me of Fyrinnae's Dressed to Kill from their Halloween collection a few years back, although a bit darker in my opinion.  I'll have to do a side by side swatch to show you guys.

Anyway, I thought I'd play around with this in a FOTD, and here is what I used:

Face:
Laura Geller Spackle
Laura Geller Real Deal Concealer in Light
Laura Geller Balance 'n Brighten Foundation
Nars Blush in Orgasm

Eyes:
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Fyrinnae Arcane Magic Futuristic Glamrock - inner corner / lower lashline
L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow "Green Emerald" - middle of lid
MAC "She Who Dares" - outer corner into crease

The last picture really shows the sparkle in that Golden Emerald shadow - it is so pretty!

Have you tried any of these Infallible colors?  What is your favorite?

Meijer

Spotted at Meijer: Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Limited Edition Color & Jewel Overcoat

10:52 AM

These came out a while ago, but I have seen the display pop up again over the past several weeks.  This one, pictured at Meijer, was fully stocked, but when I went back two days later to pick something up, there was only one polish left.  I did not get any of these, but the Jewel overcoats are very pretty.

Feel free to click the pictures to zoom in for a closeup.

Spotted at Walgreens: Wet 'n Wild Crackle Craze

9:31 AM

The crackle trend continues, and Wet 'n Wild has come out with a new set called Crackle Craze.  These colors are very shimmery/glittery.  There is a silver/gunmetal, gold, cobalt blue, lavender glitter, red and black.  The lavender is a really pretty color in itself, and I imagine would make a nice crackle too, although I haven't every really jumped on this bandwagon myself.

Have you seen this one out yet?

LA Girl

Spotted at Meijer: L.A. Girl Polka Dot Nail Art Collection

11:27 AM

Such a good idea, especially if you are inspired to create your own manicure designs.  L.A. Girl has come out with a Polka Dot Nail Art Collection, which includes 3 polishes and a double-ended dotting tool.

I spotted this at Meijer over the weekend, and am wishing I actually bought one of them.  There were two sets that I could see - one came with pink, lavender and blue, and the other set came with red, silver and black.  Both contained the dotting tool.

If you are a regular on Pinterest, I'm sure you see all the cute designs people come up with for their manicure, and this would be such a good addition to your collection if you don't already own a tool.

Have you seen this one yet?

CVS

Spotted at CVS: New Spoiled "On the Catwalk" Collection,

4:03 PM

While out and about yesterday over lunch, I spotted a new display by Spoiled called "On the Catwalk", featuring some gorgeous colors (repromotes) for the fall.  Some were a little more basic than the others, but three of them really stood out to me, so I bought them to try out (more pictures below).

When I first saw the display, two of the colors looked boring to me, and by boring I mean just a basic blue and black.  Well, then I picked them up and realized there was a lot more going on!  Here are the three I bought, from left to right: Checkin' into Rehab, I'm Ba-Roque, and The Parking Meteor Expired.

Seriously, look at I'm Checkin' into Rehab - it's this beautiful deep rich purple/blue blurple with flakies.  It is so pretty, and the camera can't even capture it.  Swatches will be done tonight for sure!

And then The Parking Meteor Expired - I thought this one was black until I picked it up!  An oil slick - this is what this looks like.  At first glance it's black...the black with dark emerald green shimmer...but wait, there's more!  Nope, this has a major shift to gold, green, and purple too!  This is so pretty, and I only hope on the nail I am able to really see the shift.  Enlarge the picture so you can - this was the best I could get!

So have you seen these colors yet?  I'll be anxious to see what everyone thinks!

Now I turned to my resident expert on the subject (Nouveau Cheap) and she confirmed that these were infact repromotes.  Now for those of you, like me, who haven't seen these colors before - they are somewhat new!

Loreal

NOTD: L'Oreal Gorgeous Gold

10:28 AM

Today's NOTD: L'Oreal's Gorgeous Gold.  This is a very rich metallic gold polish with tons of silver, gold and tiny holographic glitter in it.  The gold actually leans a bit olive in color depending on the lighting.

This color is beautiful - it is thick, and the glitter makes it look a bit bumpy, but that's fine by me.  Here is two coats, followed by one coat of topcoat.

My only complaint is the tiny irridescent glitter didn't translate to the nail when swatched.  Maybe it was washed out, who knows.  This is a pretty shade, though.  I believe this was from a limited edition collection this summer called "It's Gold or Nothing At All".

Do you have this color?  What do you think?

Nailpolish

NOTD: Sinful Citrine

9:00 AM

Looking for an inexpensive, beautiful and bright coral polish for this summer?  Well head on over to whoever carries your Sinful polishes and pick up Citrine.  This is one of those "Wow!" polishes on.  This is a rich, creamy, turn-the-lights-on coral bordering on orange/red.  I had seen a couple swatches of it online, and actually passed by the display several times this summer thinking the shades were too much for me.  I am so glad I went back and picked this one up.  There is another one called Clementine that I'm having buyers remorse for too, so I may have to see if that bottle is left this weekend.

Below is two coats, followed by one coat of NYC Grand Central Station.  So shiny and pretty!  I will say, this one wore like iron as well, so I was very pleased with that.

Do you own this polish?  What do you think?

Black Radiance

Spotted at Walgreens:Lots of new Nail Polish by Sally Hansen Crackles, Sinful Polishes, Revlon, Black Radiance and Essie

9:40 AM

Lots of pictures for you today from my Walgreens run earlier this week!  First up, the Sinful Phenomenon collection, which looks to be some beautiful colors for fall.  I'm not sure how many, if any at all, are new shades on this display, but regardless, it is a neat collection.

Secondly, in a totally different direction from the Sinful Phenomenon display, the Revlon Nail Art Neon collection.  This has two polishes - a white base polish on one side to use as a base coat, and the other side has a neon cream polish.  These are absolutely lit from within.  My camera had a very difficult time capturing the colors, but you get the idea (I think!)...

Essie's newest collection is the Mirror Metallics, which is a set of beautiful foils.

I stumbled upon these Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat polishes, as they weren't on a display, but instead were just stuck between a couple of random displays on a shelf.  I happened to notice the coral one below, which made me stop and look.  I believe all four of these are new: Coral Collide, Sage Smash, Wave Break and StarBurst.  Starburst is really interesting - it's almost a black jelly with gold glitter in it.  This would be interesting for Halloween over an orange polish.  The Coral Collide and Wave Break remind me of two of the old Sally Hansen Hi Def polishes (which are on clearance right now).  Wave Break reminds me of Laser and Coral Collide reminds me Three D, but with more shift.  Beautiful!

Lastly, the new Black Radiance Girls Rock collection.  The bottles remind me of Butter of London, and the colors are really pretty too.  There were three glitters, a royal blue, an extremely bright pink/coral and teal.

Have you seen any of these yet?  So much to see...what to buy!?

Eyeliners

Spotted at Walgreens: New Milani Color Play Felt Eyeliners

11:30 AM

I spotted the new display for Milani's Color Play Felt Tip Liquid Pens, which I got an email about last week.  These can be used on eyes, face, or body, and come in a variety of bright shades including a bright pink and grey.  Interesting, for sure.  I'll be anxious to see what people thing of them.  These were at Walgreens, but will also be available on Milani's website.

FOTD Blue

FOTD: Fyrinnae Polar Bear, Arcane Magic Archmage and Arcane Magic Madame & Eve

10:57 AM

I think the weather has finally decided to break and it isn't going to be in the 100's+ anytime soon.  It's amazing, this weekend the high was 92 and it actually felt cool compared to the 105 we had the day prior.  I'm all for summer, but there comes a point when it's just too stifling to do anything, and we certainly were there last week.  I am happy to be able to get back outside and work in the yard, although after this heat wave, there isn't much to work on!

Anyway, another Fyrinnae look today - this time teals and gold.  Clearly the Arcane Magic shadows have been front of mind for me, as I am using two of them in this look.  Here is what I did:

Face:
Laura Geller Champagne Spackle
Laura Geller Balance 'n Brighten "Regular"
Milani Baked Blush in Corallina

Eyes:
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy - lightly patted all over lid
Fyrinnae Arcane Magic Madame & Eve - outer corner/crease
Fyrinnae Arcane Magic Archmage - middle of lid/patted onto Madame & Eve/lower lashline
Fyrinnae Polar Bear - inner corner, lower lashline blended into Archmage
Physician's Formula Gel Eyeliner - Black
Rimmel Wow Mascara - Black

Lips:
Laura Geller Marbled Lipstick in Brown Sugar

Happy Monday!  Here's to another, hopefully short (or short-feeling) week!

FOTD Blue

My 4th of July FOTD using Fyrinnae & Aromaleigh

10:30 AM

I seem to be on a bit of a Fyrinnae kick recently.  I guess after days of wearing little to no makeup due to the heat, I'm making up for last time and my need for a sparkle fix!

For the 4th of July I mixed it up with Fyrinnae (Arcane Magic Glitterboi), Aromaleigh (Tangled Tinsel & Elena Marguerite) and LA Splash Diamond Dust in Superb to create a relatively patriotic red, white/silver and blue look.  Here is what I used:

Face:
Laura Geller Champagne Spackle Primer
Laura Geller Balance 'n Brighten - Regular
Mally Bronzer
NARS Blush in Super Orgasm

Eyes:
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy - all over lid
LA Splash Diamond Dust - Superb - outer corner into crease
Fyrinnae Arcane Magic in Glitterboi - ontop of LA Splash on outer corner
Aromaleigh Elena Marguerite - middle of lid up into crease, blended into the blue
Aromaleigh Tangled Tinsel - crease and along lowerlashline
Milani Liquif'eye Eyeliner - Silver - lower lashline
Physicians Formula Gel Eyeliner in Black
Rimmel Extra Lash Wow Mascara - Black

Lips
Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter - Candy Apple

I hope you all have a nice weekend!

Baking

July 4th Mani using Salon Express Stamping Kit and NYC French White Tip and my Firecracker Cake

9:24 AM

Hope you all had a nice 4th of July, if you were here in the states celebrating.  Yesterday morning my son and I got up early and made a "firecracker cake" compliments of Betty Crocker (and Pinterest).  I don't usually go for the box cake deals, but this was just too cute to pass up.  If you are interested, here's the recipe, which can obviously be adjusted to fit the colors you would like.

Four the 4th, I decided to with a simple manicure.  I actually had purchased the Salon Express Nail Stamping Kit (now available at Big Lots for $6) at CVS before Christmas last year, and realized there was a plate in the kit that looked similar to fireworks, so I used the SE20 plate.  I had actually purchased a Konad kit on eBay months ago, and it came with their red and blue stamping polish, so that worked out really well.  To do this look, here is what I did:

NYC French White Tip - 2 coats
Ring Finger: SE20 stamp (red then blue)
Iridescent Glitter - lined as French tip and dotted on ring finger

In retrospect, I probably wouldn't have lined the glitter on the tips like a French manicure, but oh well!  It's for one day, right?

This was super simple, and not too over-the-top for the day.  What did you do for your patriotic mani?

Coming Soon - Nicole by OPI for Selena Gomez?

3:48 PM

Selena Gomez will be following in the footsteps of her boyfriend, Justin Bieber, and will be introducing a new nailpolish line partnering with Nicole by OPI.  Head on over to her Facebook page, and you can see.
I'm not going to lie - I really like her.  She has managed to keep her life out of the public eye, as best as I imagine is possible considering her popularity.  She has not jumped feet first into the celebrity world outside of the Disney Channel, and I think she is absolutely beautiful.
One of my favorite makeup looks she has done is from her Year Without Rain video.  I need to do some research and see what she used.

Anyway, what do you think about the nailpolish line?  I wonder what her colors will be like?
