Cover Girl

FOTD: Covergirl TruNaked Goldens Pallet

9:38 AM

I posted some swatches of the new Cover Girl TruNaked Goldens pallet, and today is a quick FOTD I did using them as well.  These are gorgeous, highly compatible and blendable shadows.  Like I mentioned in the earlier post, I am blown away by the quality of these, especially when used over a base.  CoverGirl was never my "go to" drug store brand for eyeshadows, but I am absolutely loving this pallet and will definitely take a look at the other two available.  I also will say, although they are attempting to be a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked pallets, these do have some different colors in the mix, making these a lot of fun to work with!

Below is my quick cut-crease with the pallet.  I used the darkest brown for the crease, blended it into the third-from-the-left and blended that into the third-from-the-right for my crease.  The lid is the second from the right, and my highlight is the farthest to the right.  Gorgeous - a simple and easy way to create a neutral cut crease, and at a drug-store cost!

Lips are the Younique Opulence Lipstick in Stuck Up.  Cheeks is the Nars Orgasm blush.

ColourPop

Swatches: ColourPop Cosmetics SuperShock Eyeshadow in I "Heart" This

4:11 PM

Over Christmas I picked up some ColourPop cosmetics to give as gifts, and of course, had to try them out for myself to see what all of the hype was about. :)  If you haven't heard of ColourPop, please do a quick Google Search, YouTube Search, or Instagram #colourpop and filter down on the beauty bloggers.  You will immediately see that these are a becoming quite the sensation, and at $5 a pop (no pun intended), I can see why!

The first color I have to show you is called I "Heart" This, which is a pale, almost silvery taupe with iridescent glitter.  The texture of this is so creamy, smooth and gel-like.  I have been using my finger to apply, and let me just say, this is the easiest and most effortless application for a foil-like finish I have ever come across on any eyeshadow.  When you touch it, it's kind of *squishy*, and literally glides onto the lid.  Once set, it's set.  This sucker won't budge.

Here is a video of it swatched - this was the only way I could think to show how complex and shiny this is!

Below is a FOTD using I "Heart" This - like I said...it's gorgeous!

FOTD: Urban Decay Naked2 Pallet

2:32 PM

After months...well make that years...of wishing I had the Urban Decay Naked pallets, I finally bit the bullet and purchased all three about a week ago.  Recently I have stepped away from neutrals and been using a lot more color with my eyeshadows, but there is something about bold looks using neutral shades that I love.

To create the look here, I used the original UDPP all over my lid.  Above the crease, I gently applied Tease, which is a matte milk chocolate color.  I then took Snake Bite and applied that underneath, closer to the actual crease.  Black Out is applied right at the crease and outer "V", with YDK in the middle of the lid and Half Baked applied in the inner corner.  Finished the look off with a black eyeliner (NYX) and my Younique 3D Moodstruck lashes and I was set!

My Valentines FOTD Using NYX Eyeshadow Singles in Wild Flower, Jazzy Bronze & Shimmer

11:55 AM

I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day.  I decided to play around with some pinks and peaches for my makeup yesterday, as opposed to reds.  Simply, I'm ready for spring, so I'm hoping some pastels will bring it sooner!

A brand I haven't worn in a LONG time is NYX.  A few years ago I bought a ton of these from their website, and swatched them all here (pictures are kind of big, but you get the idea).  I picked out three complimentary colors to play with: Jazzy Bronze (far left), Shimmer (bottom right) and Wild Flower (top right).  Wild Flower would make a gorgeous blush too.

FOTD Using Mally's Favorite Things Volume 2 - Age Rebel Eyeshadows

10:23 AM

So...the flu has hit my house, which explains the lack of posting recently.  Unfortunately, because of it I am WAY behind in updating my blog.  Sorry about that!  I am working diligently on getting posts and pictures updated and uploaded for posts this week.

Anyway, evidently my camera got the flu too, because only one of my pictures I took for the Mally Favorite Things Volume 2 uploaded, so this is the only one I have to share wearing this collection.  I used all three Age Rebel Eyeshadows to create this look.  Below are the details:

Face
Laura Geller Champagne Spackle Primer
Make Up Forever HD Foundation 115
Make Up Forever Microfinish Powder
Nars Blush "Orgasm"

Eyes
Mally Age Rebel Eyeshadow in "Jade" - inner corner, lower lashline
Mally Age Rebel Eyeshadow in "urnished Violet" - middle lid to outer corner and crease
Mally Evercolor Eyeshadow Stick "Taupe" - outern corner/crease blended into Burnished Violet
Mally Age Rebel Eyeshadow in "Sugar" - highlight
Mally Evercolor Waterproof eyeliner in Shimmery Black - upper and lower lashline
Mally Mascara - Black

Lips
Mally Liquid Lipstick in Raspberry

Like I mentioned in the post earlier, these are extremely creamy eyeshadows that could easily be used as a primer underneath another powder.  I did use them simply as shadows, without any other color setting them.  They lasted all day, did not crease, and the pigmentation was wonderful.  I will certainly use these as liners along my lower lashline, and as a quick and easy eyeshadow on days I am in a hurry, or not looking for an intricate look.  Jade is easily my favorite color of the bunch.  It is such a bright and springy color!

So who else picked up this kit?  What did you think?

Swatches: Avon Satin Satisfaction Lip Color in Red Temptation

10:21 AM

I honestly don't know if this Avon Satin Satisfaction lip color is even still available, but I saw it sitting, unopened, in my drawer and thought I'd take it out and try it.  Honestly, I don't even remember getting this, so it's definitely been a while.

Satin Satisfaction lip colors are medium to full coverage lip colors in a tube, which use a very flexible flat tip (kind of like a doe-foot) applicator to apply.  These have SPF15 and do not have a glossy finish, hence the name "satin".  There were several colors to choose from, and I clearly went out on a limb to pick out red...not a typical color for me.

The swatch below is two swipes on the lip.  If you zoom in, my natural lip shows through, so this is a buildable coverage.  The texture is velvety.  It doesn't dry completely, but it also isn't sticky or glossy like a typical lip gloss.  Instead, it stays put while being flexible, and doesn't feather off the lips.  I'm actually wishing I had purchased more of these when I picked up the red.

And, just because I liked my makeup the other day when I wore this Red Temptation, here is a full face.

Have you tried these Satin Satisfactions by Avon?  What did you think of them?

12:12 PM

Another FOTD, this time using some of my all-time favorite neutrals from Fyrinnae: Polar Bear, Druid Werewolf, Velvet Vampire & Avenging Salem.  All the sparkle and glitz in these neutrals really give them such complexity that is really difficult to capture in the photos, but I've attached several in hopes of trying.

For the look, here is what I used:

Face:
Laura Geller Champagne Spackle
Laura Geller Balance 'n Brighten - Regular
Mally Bronzer
NARS Blush in Super Orgasm

Eyes:
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy - all over lid
Fyrinnae Polar Bear - inner corner of lid, inner portion of lower lashline
Fyrinnae Druid Werewolf - middle of lid next to Polar Bear and all along lower lashline
Fyrinnae Velvet Vampire - outer portion of middle of lid blended into Druid Werewolf and patted on top of Avenging Salem on the outer V
Fyrinnae Avenging Salem - outer corner blended into crease
Physician's Formula Gel Eyeliner - black
Loreal Voluminous Power Volume 24Hr Mascara - Black

Lips
Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple

Below are a few more pictures, plus a closeup of the eyes...

Hard to believe tomorrow is July 4th!  Anyone have any fun patriotic manicures or looks they plan on doing in celebration of the day?  I'll probably work on a manicure, but haven't quite figured out what I will do yet.

Bare Escentuals

FOTD/EOTD: Fyrinnae Nijiro, Evocation and Medevil Haunting & Maybelline Pink Bliss,

7:57 AM

Fyrinnae is hands down one of my favorite lines of eyeshadows/pigments to wear.  Not only are the products an amazing quality, extremely pigmented, and of course gorgeous, but the color selection and complexity is outstanding!  Today I went for a smokey look using three Fyrinnae shades: Nijiro, an Aracane Magic in Evocation and Medieval Haunting from their Halloween '09 I believe.  All three of these colors are very complex, with color shifting and shimmer that isn't captured by the camera.

For the look above, I used the following:

Face:
Mally Beauty Cancellation Concealer System
bareEscentuals Foundation in Fair (original formula)
bareEscentuals Mineral Veil (original)

Eyes
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Fyrinnae Nijiro - inner corner and lightly as highlight on lid
Fyrinnae Arcane Magic in Evocation - middle of lid, also lightly along lower lashline
Fyrinnae Medieval Haunting - outer corner/crease
Physician's Formula Gel Eyeliner Trio for Hazel Eyes - black liner - lashline
Mally Beauty Volumizing Mascara - black

Lips
Laura Geller Lipstick in Banana Berry

Bare Escentuals

FOTD: Bare Escentuals Celestine, Sassy Minerals Pandora's Box, Milani Lilly White and NYX Cream Pallet in Sweet Chocolate Brown

9:57 AM

I have been looking at my NYX Glitter Cream Pallet Sweet Chocolate Browns for a couple of days now trying to figure out something to do with them.  I've used them on top of eyeshadows, but one thing I've wanted to try is to apply the glitters on top of a black eyeliner to try and add some glitz.  I was drawn to the gold microglitter, so I built a look around it.  Unfortunately, I didn't have my "good" camera on hand, so the resolution isn't great below, but I think you can still see how it turned out.

For the look, I used the following:

Face
Laura Geller's Real Deal concealer in Light
Pur Minerals Foundation in Porcelain
Milani Baked Blush in Coralina

Eyes
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Bare Escentuals Eyeshadow in Celestine - inner corner
Sassy Minerals Eyeshadow in Pandoras Box - outer corner/crease
Milani Eyeshadow in Lily White - highlight
Milani Liqu'ify Eyeliner in Black
NYX Cream Pallet in Sweet Chocolate Brown - glitter gold on top of black eyeliner

Lips

These glitter pallets would be fun for New Year's Eve...just a thought!
