Spotted at Meijer: New Olay Fresh Effects Collection

10:21 AM

I spotted this new display at Meijer of Olay Fresh Effects.  Clearly targeting a younger demographic, this new collection is "the skincare line that can really keep up with you. Deep clean, hydrate and refresh your skin so you stay sparkling all day and all night."

There are six different items in this new line from Olay, including cleansers, moisturizers and BB Creams.  I really like cleansers with an exfoliating beads in them, so I think I am going to pick up the "Bead Me Up" cleanser when my current face wash runs out, which should be pretty soon.

Have you seen this collection out? Have you tried any of them?  Thoughts?  I'd love to hear what you think!

Spotted at Meijer: New Physician's Formula Sexy Booster Collection

10:46 AM

I love seasonal collections from the various cosmetics companies, but one of my favorites has to be Physican's Formula and their Happy Booster line.  Something about the little hearts (see closeups here and here) and the shimmer really bring a pick me up to the daily routine in the gloomy winter months.  Plus, the colors are so bright and cheerful after deep vampy shades that tend to take over fall and winter.

This January Physician's Formula has introduced the Sexy Booster line, which is a collection of lip glosses, bronzers and blushes.  These are decorated with high heels and bustiers, which is quite cute.

I didn't get any of these, but do think they are really cute.  Have you picked these up?  Which one is your favorite?

Spotted at Meijer: New Maybelline Color Show Fashion Prints Nail Stickers

3:55 PM

I spotted some new Maybelline Color Show Nail Stickers at Meijer yesterday.  I was drawn in by this gorgeous orange below, and the rest are pretty neat as well.  Price was $6.49 each and there were lots to choose from!  They were kind of tribal looking, which was neat.  Something beyond the glitters and solid colors out there.

Spotted at Meijer: A few more Halloween goodies from Kiss Nail and Lip Dress, Sinful Magnetics

9:00 AM

Meijer never fails when it comes to all the new products and various Halloween makeup goodies this time of year.  The Halloween aisle wasn't as packed as normal, but I still found lots of things to share with you.  First up, Sinful Magnetic polishes.  Of all the magnetic polishes I've seen, this is the first one I've seen with a removable magnet, meaning you could collect various different patterns to use on all of your magnetic polishes.  Smart!

You can see the "ring" that has the magnet on it in the picture below.

Next up the Kiss Nail Artist Halloween Stickers.  I love their seasonal stickers - they are so fun and cute, and a really simple and easy way to add some holiday spirit to your manicure, without a lot of time or effort.

Also from Kiss, the Lip Dress lip tattoos.  These are definitely outside of my comfort zone, but they would be a neat way to really snap up a Halloween costume (i.e. the Cheetah lips if you were dressing up as a cat, etc).

There were also several varieties of Nail Stickers a-la-Sally-Hanson-Salon-Effects...

First up, Kiss Nail Dress.  Several varieties here, but I think I already showed you these from a Walgreens spotting.

Also, Fright Night had some Nail Wraps and new polish colors for Halloween.

These nail wraps aren't exactly Halloween specific - they are bright and could certainly be worn anytime.  Below are some closeups of the wraps.

Have you seen any of these?  Have you tried the Lip Dress by Kiss?

LA Girl

Spotted at Meijer: New LA Girls Magnetic Nail Polishes

11:34 AM

Jumping on the magnetic nail polish trend, LA Girls has a display at Meijer, that not only had some different colors, but also had some different designs to apply outside of the typical stripes/squiggles.  Each color had a different type of magnet available, be it a "target", "V", diagonal, "c" or star.  I believe these were $3.99 a piece.

Spotted at Meijer: New Limited Edition Sally Hansen Insta Dry Nail Polish Collection

11:19 AM

Sally Hansen has a new Limited Edition Insta Dry collection out now - this set is full of rich blues, purples and a few really vamp colors.  The one I was most drawn to, called In A Flurry, was a black base with holographic glitter in it.  I did buy, so when I get around to wearing I will definitely take pictures.

Spotted at Meijer: New Wet 'n Wild Magnetic Nail Polishes

12:15 PM

Spotted at Meijer this weekend, the new Wet 'n Wild Limited Edition Magnetic nail color collection.  This collection has more bold and primary colors compared to a lot of the warmer shades of other collections I've seen - i.e. there is a rich evergreen/Kelly green as opposed to the typical olive greens I've seen on the shelf.  The colors look really pretty in the bottle without the magnet, so I'm sure they are neat once applied.  Retail is $4.99, and I believe there were 8 total colors in the collection.

Mascara

Spotted at Meijer: Greatlash Limited Edition Mascaras

7:18 AM

Maybelline's Great Lash has another limited edition display this year, including 4 different colors in mascara.  There is a bright blue, green, teal and purple.  At Meijer they were $4.39 each.

I wish I liked Great Lash more - these colors are beautiful!

Spotted at Meijer: Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Limited Edition Color & Jewel Overcoat

10:52 AM

These came out a while ago, but I have seen the display pop up again over the past several weeks.  This one, pictured at Meijer, was fully stocked, but when I went back two days later to pick something up, there was only one polish left.  I did not get any of these, but the Jewel overcoats are very pretty.

Feel free to click the pictures to zoom in for a closeup.

LA Girl

Spotted at Meijer: L.A. Girl Polka Dot Nail Art Collection

11:27 AM

Such a good idea, especially if you are inspired to create your own manicure designs.  L.A. Girl has come out with a Polka Dot Nail Art Collection, which includes 3 polishes and a double-ended dotting tool.

I spotted this at Meijer over the weekend, and am wishing I actually bought one of them.  There were two sets that I could see - one came with pink, lavender and blue, and the other set came with red, silver and black.  Both contained the dotting tool.

If you are a regular on Pinterest, I'm sure you see all the cute designs people come up with for their manicure, and this would be such a good addition to your collection if you don't already own a tool.

Have you seen this one yet?

Color Club

Spotted at Meijer: New Studio M "Live on the Bright Side" and Color Club "Take Wing" Collections

10:07 AM

If you are into brights, then you're in luck!  Studio M and Color Club have some gorgeous collections out right now.  First up, Studio M's Live on the Bright Side collection, which is a series of creme and then glitter colors.  Actually, the two polishes are exactly identical, except one is the creme base with holographic glitter in it.  Unfortunately I couldn't get a closeup of the individual bottles to who the difference - the store was packed!  Retail is $2.99 a piece.

Next up the Color Club Take Wing collection.  Let me just say how happy I am to see Color Club displays now out and about in the stores where I live.  For years I've seen these polishes swatched on the blogs and haven't been able to find them, but I'm thinking times are changing here in a good way!

The Take Wing collection is a set of beautiful bright and summery colors with iridescent flakes and glitters.  I picked up three colors I will swatch for you later.  These are so gorgeous.  Retail was $3.99 a piece.

Have you seen either of these?  What colors did you pick up?

Maybelline

Spotted at Meijer: Maybelline Exotic Escape Collection 2012

9:53 AM

Another new collection spotted at Meijer this past weekend - the Maybelline Exotic Escape Summer 2012 Collection.  This is a set of 5 eyeliners, 5 eyeshadow sets, 5 lipsticks and one blush.  These colors are very bright and tropical, so if you are looking for something a bit bolder now that the weather is starting to warm up, these might be just the thing.

More pictures after the jump!

Color Club

Spotted at Meijer: New Color Club Magnetic Polishes

10:39 AM

The Meijer I do my usual grocery shopping in has finally restocked with some new cosmetics and nailpolish, so I have quite a few things to post here.  First up, some Color Club.  I'm so happy to see these finally stocked on a regular basis, instead of just in little holiday packs.  I read about and see this brand on blogs all the time, and have never found anywhere to purchase until now.

Meijer had a huge end cap/rack of Color Club's Magnetic Polishes in a variety of shades.  I took closeups below, as well as purchased two (Hipnotic and Sci-Fi) so I'll post pictures and reviews of those once I am able to swatch them.  There are a total of 6 colors to choose from on this display.  Price for each was $5.99 a bottle, which was more than regular Color Club polishes ($3.99 a piece at Meijer), but I believe these are bigger bottles, although I could be wrong.

More pictures below after the jump...

NOTD: Studio M for Meijer "Cute Chick"

10:46 AM

I snagged this Studio M polish half off the other day when I was getting groceries at Meijer.  I believe it's from their spring/Easter collection and at $1.49 I had to pick it up.

Cute Chick is a very pale metallic lavender-pink with iridescent microglitter throughout.  I'd say there are even traces of tiny flakies in it too.

Here's a closeup of the side, so you can see the color and the shimmer.

Below is three coats.  This is a very sheer, thin polish.  It's a beautiful color and a nice way to wear color in a subtle way.  This would also be beautiful layered ontop of another color: purple, black, white, etc...

I wanted to try and capture the shimmer in this polish, but my camera died, so I snapped a few shots with my camera phone.  They aren't quite as hi-res as the others, but you get the point.

Like I've said, I really like the color selection of the Studio M polishes.  Yes, they aren't quite as pigmented as some others, but for $2.99 a piece, the selection is nice!

Eyeliners

Swatches: Milani Black Magic Liner & Eye Glimmer in Teal and Pink

10:09 AM

Milani Black Magic Liner and Eye Glimmer were on clearance at Meijer a few weeks back, so I picked up two to try out: Teal and Pink.  These are dual ended eyeliners, with one side being a blackened liner in the color stated, and the other end being a thick glitter-crayon topcoat.

From the Milani website:
A dual-ended pencil that delivers three amazing looks! Apply blackened liner on lash line or on the eye lid for deep, dramatic eyes. Use the glimmer top coat over the blackened liner to create a spectacular dazzling look. Wear the glimmer top coat by itself on entire eye lid for a magical effect!
The glitter-crayon side reflects the color the best.  In the picture below, the color really stands out.

The other side (the blackened side) is difficult to decipher the color, which is the point.  When actually swatched, there is a hint of shimmer, in either teal or pink in this case.  The consistency of this side of the pencil reminds me of a kohl.  Somewhat chalky, but actually quite pigmented and easy to use, I preferred this side of the pencil to the glitter portion.

Below are swatches of Pink and Teal.  From left to right: glitter side alone, pencil/kohl side alone, glitter on top of kohl.

Notice how the glitter side actually washes out the kohl/blackened pencil?  That really frustrated me.  I really don't think I'll use the glitter side.  It was chunky, difficult to use/blend, and really doesn't show up on it's own.  Instead I will lend these pencils to the use as a smokey/smudgy liner.

Have you tried these before?  What did you think?
