Swatches: Revlon Limited Edition Vintage Super Lustrous Lipsticks in Jungle Peach and Snow Peach

2:44 PM

THe Revlon Limited Edition Vintage Lipsticks have finally been released, and I was so excited when I saw a brand new display at Walgreens, with BOGO1/2 on the ticket!  I used this opportunity to pick up Jungle Peach and Snow Peach

Jungle Peach looks really bright orange on my lack-of-sun-and-Vitamin-D skin right now, but when actually applied to the lips, its a nice, muted milky-cream peach leaning nude shade.  I really was pleasantly surprised with this, and see where I will be reaching for this color A LOT!

Snow Peach is a bright coral, still slightly muted and milky, but definitely brighter and pinkier than Jungle Peach.  This will be great in the summer.

Below, swatches on.  First, Jungle Peach.

Then, Snow Peach.

I think I need Sandstorm.  I remember loving that color.  What is your favorite re-release?

Blushes

Laura Geller Colors of Love Collection: Heart Blush-n-Highlighter "Pink Valentine" and Love Me Dew "Lychee Glace"

1:00 PM

Laura Geller has some of my all-time favorite blushes, so when I saw her "Colors of Love" collection being presented on QVC a few weeks ago, I had to pick this one up.

The set consists of a baked blush/highlighter and a lip crayon.  As I have recently fallen in love with lip crayons, thanks to the likes of Revlon, I was anxious to try one of Laura's as well.

First up, the blush.  Look at how absolutely gorgeous this is.  The color is called "Pink Valentine", and is a coral base with golden shimmer.  The heart highlighter is a shimmery champagne shade, similar (if not identical) to Portofino.  This blush is like Nars Orgasm, only brighter.

The lip crayon, Lychee Glace, is a bright coral, without shimmer.  This goes on very pigmented, with a nice shine.  The crayon itself is adjusted from the base, like other crayons are.  A nice, thick crayon, it is hefty enough of a product to apply easily, and doesn't feather into your lines.  It is sticky enough to last a majority of the day without a need to reapply, but doesn't dry out your lips like a lot of lasting lip colors are known to do.

Swatches side-by-side of all three shades below.  When you swirl the blush together, there is just the added depth of the highlighter, although if you have a small enough blush-brush, you can reach for it alone to highlight your cheek bones.  These are some gorgeous shades, for sure!  Definitely a nice step up from your average box of chocolates on Valentines Day....go ahead, treat yourself!

Lip Balms

Swatches of Revlon Color Burst Matte Balms in 250 Standout Remarquable and 225 Sultry Sulfureuse

11:50 AM

After reading numerous reviews of the Revlon Colorburst balms, I decided to use some CVS Extra Care Bucks to put towards two of the matte shades called Standout Remarquable (250) and Sultry Sulfureuse (225).

Standout is a bright, neutral, red.  On my skin tone, it appears a bit cooler, but I think overall this is mostly on the neutral spectrum.  Sultry is a deep mauve shade. Both are matte, and have a smooth, almost velvety texture when applied.

I have found over time, that a lot of the matte lip colors out there are either drying or cakey.  These most definitely are not.  The Revlon ColorBurst apply so smoothly, evenly, and with precision on the lip.  Pigmentation is stellar - comparable to a lipstick - not translucent or waxy like a lot of the crayons on the market right now.  Truly a great product, I would certainly suggest you grab one for your purse in a color that you wear the most.  If you are looking for a good, go-to red, pick up Standout.  It is quite honestly the most perfect red I have in my bag right now.

Below is a FOTD using the Sultry.  Love it.

What color have you picked up?  I am going to snag some of the other shades/types and swatch them as well.  These really are great!

These are available to purchase at your local drug stores and mass merchandiser - retail for approximately $7.99-8.99 depending on the location.

Lip Gloss

Mally Lip Magnifier Lip Color in Punch

8:42 AM

Mail came the other day, and in it was the next round from the QVC New Beauty Test Tube.  This one had Mally's Lip Magnifier in Punch - a combination of lipstick and gloss, this product leaves lips smooth and shiny.  Punch is a warm pink with a slight shimmer.  Nothing over bearing, but definitely an easy to use color for all year round.

A closeup of Punch is below - feel free to click to enlarge.  You can see the shimmer a bit better.

Swatched on the lips below, see now natural and shiny the color is?  I really like this, maybe even a bit more than the glosses that I have swatched time after time.  I find that I reach into my purse to pull this out as my go-to gloss at the moment.

The Mally Lip Magnifier Lip Color retails for $20.00 on Mally's website, where there are several other colors available.

Have you tried any of these lip colors?  What did you think?

American Beauty

Swatches of Milani's HD Advanced Lip Colors: Candy Apple, Classy Nude and Sweet Grape

11:29 AM

CVS's last beauty clearance was a good one for Milani - there were several items 75% off, so I took advantage and picked up some of the HD Advanced Lip Colors.  The three I chose were Candy Apple, Classy Nude and Sweet Grape - three different colors, but I figured at 75% off I'd buy a couple of colors I'm don't typically purchase.  Sweet Grape certainly fit that bill for me.

I apologize in advance, I've been wearing these for a while, so the pictures aren't of perfectly new, fresh out of the tube, lip colors.

These HD Lip Colors are sheer, yet buildable, and moisturizing colors for your lips.  They come packaged in a thin, long, twist bottom tube. As you twist the product up, it clicks.  I don't know about you, but when I'm not paying attention, and just grab a tube of gloss, those little "clicks" are a nice subconscious way of me making sure I don't twist up the ENTIRE tube ... and believe me, I've done that before!  Also, you can retract the color back down, so even if you do over do it, they can be put back into the tube and the lid snapped on. The actual product itself is a smaller surface to apply to the lips, so it's not the size of a full lipstick in the least.  The colors leave a nice shine behind - similar to the shine of a gloss, but more the consistency of a balm.  The lip colors also have a subtle fruity fragrance and flavor.  Not over the top, but also not a lipstick-y smell either.

Candy Apple is a rich red, with a slight blue undertone.  No shimmer here.

Sweet Grape is a pinky-purple with golden shimmer.  I'll be honest, I opened the tube and thought, "Oh jeez, there's no way I'll be able to pull this off", but it actually is a really pretty, subtle color.

Classy Nude is just that.  A simple, basic, carmel nude.  A slight shimmer, but it doesn't translate onto the lips.  Perfect to grab and go if you are needing a nude shade.

Today I wore Candy Apple, so I thought I'd post a FOTD of the whole thing.  I put about 2 coats of the lip color on, and got a nice even coverage with a lot of shine.  I love this color - it is so pretty.

The entire look consists of:

Face:
Make Up Forever HD Foundation - N115
Make Up Forever HD Finishing Powder
Mally Visible Skin Bronzer "Light"
MAC Mineralize Blush "Hand Finish"

Eyes
Bare Escentuals Ready 8.0 "The Star Treatment" pallet

Lips
Milani HD Advanced Lip Color "Candy Apple"

Swatches using Mally's Liquid Lipstick in "Mally's Look" from the New Beauty Test Tube

9:05 AM

I'm always on the lookout for a good lipgloss or lipstick to have in my bag to fall back on throughout the day - something that goes with everything.  Part of the New Beauty Test Tube this go-around was Mally's High Shine Liquid Lipstick in Mally's Look.  I've received several of these Liquid Lipsticks in the kits I've purchased on QVC from Mally and they do not disappoint.  These little beauties have the coverage of a lipstick with the shine of a lipgloss - a multitasking dream.

Mally's Look is a nude-pink cream. For me, this is just a pinker version of my lips, so it's one of those "my lips but better" colors.  I really like this, especially in a pinch when I need some color and shine, but don't feel like digging around my purse for lipstick.  I actually keep this in my desk drawer at work.

I will post a full-face picture later this week, just for a better look at how this is on.

Do you have any Mally's High Shine Liquid Lipsticks?  What is your favorite color?

Cover Girl

Swatches: Cover Girl BlastFlipstick in Glimmer 810

9:56 AM

A while back CoverGirl extended their Blast line into double ended lipsticks.  This bad boy has been sitting on my vanity for months, so I thought it was about time to swatch it - CoverGirl Blast Flipstick in Glimmer 810.

The CoverGirl Blast Flipsticks are double ended lipsticks - one shimmer and one cream shade.  Both are complimentary, so you can wear them on their own, or layer them to create three customer colors.

Swatches and Review: Revlon Color Burst Lip Butters in Sugar Plum and Cherry Tart

9:00 AM

I finally caved.  Yes, I bought two of the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters.  I couldn't help it - I've read so many good things about them, it was only time until I snagged one (or two): Cherry Tart and Sugar Plum.

Packaging is similar to the regular ColorBurst line of lipsticks, only the case is semi-clear - kind of like a faceted gemstone.  I think they are really pretty, personally.

Cherry Tart is a sheer red that can easily become more intense with further application.  Because this is a butter, you don't get a true opaque coverage, ultimately allowing your tones to mold the color.  Truly, this is the neutral girl's red.  Easy to wear, and it feels great too!

Sugar Plum is, as the name suggests, a warmer plum/purple shade.  On my skin swatch below, it almost looks brown, but when applied to the lips it is a beautiful plum to berry shade.

On the lips below, you can see there is excellent pigmentation to these.  This is two applications, so obviously it's a bit more intense than just one.

It's official, I love these.  I love the texture - it truly feels like butter, as the name suggests. It melts into my lips, but actually lasts a while once applied.  The color selection is really nice, too.  There are those that are lighter and less pigmented (Cotton Candy and Cupcake, for instance) and those that knock it out of the park...i.e. Cherry Tart.  I will definitely be looking to get a few more of these when the time is right.  These make the perfect addition to your purse or desk drawer in the winter time, when I'm always reaching for my lip balm, but longing for a little bit more... like color!

Retail is $7.99-$8.99, depending on where you shop.

Did you get any of these?  What is your favorite color?

Spotted at Meijer: New from Rimmel! The Kate Moss Collection

1:50 PM

Looking for some new products for the winter at Meijer, and I found this.  Rimmel's new lasting Finish 8-hour collection designed by Kate Moss herself.  There are five sahdes of lipstick - a red, plum, pink, coral and pale nude (for lack of a better term).  Digging around I find out that the collection is the celebration of Kate and Rimmel's collaboration over the past 10  years.  What a nice way to celebrate!

Here are a couple closeups of the packaging and the colors, courtesy of Rimmel and The Daily Mail.

At first glance, the nude shade looked like a relatively similar color to Fashion Night Pout, but I didn't have mine on me to compare.

So, have you seen these yet?

Swatches: Too Faced Lip of Luxury Champagne Essence Lipstick "Celebrity Meltdown"

11:04 AM

Too Faced is one of the first higher end brands I had when I was younger . I think I had the original packaging in some of their eyeshadows and maybe a lipgloss of some variety.  I have heard great things about their lipsticks, and for my birthday I was lucky enough to receive one of their Lip of Luxury Champagne Essence Lipsticks in Celebrity Meltdown.

The packaging is really cute - the top is bedazzled with a big rhinestone on the cap.

Celebrity Meltdown is a rose base with golden shimmer.  The picture above is taken under a light, without flash.  It appears darker in the tube compared to how it applies.

The picture below, with flash, really brings out the true color of the lipstick.  This is a deeper rose, almost raspberry shimmer base, with golden shimmer infused as well.  The pigmentation is wonderful, it's moisturizing, long lasting but doesn't dry out your lips, and I did not experience any feathering of the base pigmentation after long use.  Celebrity Meltdown its self is a really beautiful shade.  It would be perfect in the summer, but the gold helps it transition into these colder months when I find I tend to wear more dark blacks and browns.

Swatched on the lips below.  The golden shimmer really comes out upon application.  The lipstick itself also has a nice shine - not quite like a lipgloss, but definitely more than most lipsticks have.

There are a lot of colors to choose from, mostly ranging in the pinks to warmer red shades.  I took a snippit of the Sephora website so you could see the options.  I've also seen these at Beauty First, if you have one in your area.  Retail is $20.

Have you tried Too Faced Lipsticks before?  Which is your go-to shade?

Limited Editions

Swatches: Revlon Color Burst Lipstick "Fashion Night Pout"

8:57 AM

I can't believe I haven't posted this yet.  I'm sure you all remember when Revlon launched a limited edition lip stick called "Fashion Night Pout", which was basically a dupe of the MAC Gaga2.  This was launched at the same time as the limited edition nail polish called Black With Envy, which was a dupe of the Chanel Black Pearl nail lacquer.  Well, I walked into Walgreens one day and there were both the lipstick and the nail polish, so I immediately grabbed both.

Fashion Night Pout is a creamy-peachy-nude/beige.  That's about the only way I can describe it.  It's been described on the blogsophere as a nude that everyone can wear.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that I can actually wear this - I thought I would be too fair-skinned to pull off a nude, but it is actually a nice color, just a bit more nude than my actual lips.

This isn't quite as opaque as some lipsticks, which I think probably makes this a little more wearable on everyone - you're natural color kind of *shines* through the lipstick.  I really am liking this - it's an easy lipstick to pull off, goes well with most any looks, and is just so very natural.

Did you find this color when it was available?

Avon

Swatches: Avon Ultra Color Rich Moisture Seduction Lipsticks in "Rosewine" and "Perfect Pink"

8:44 AM

After the swirly-goodness that is the Laura Geller Lipstick in Banana Berry, I thought I'd post a couple more swirlies for all of you to enjoy!

This time, we're looking at the new Avon Ultra Rich Moisture Seduction Lipsticks in Rosewine and Perfect Pink.

From the Avon website:
"Our most moisture-infused lipstick…for the lushest color you’ve ever known! Up to 500% moisture boost. 1000% full-on sexy lips. Ribbons of rich moisturizers intertwine with seductively smooth color for a sensuous surge of deep hydration."

Perfect pink is a very bright pink, swirled with the moisture ribbons and a hint of shimmer.  The actual color is quite muted because the swirls don't have any color to them, thus cutting the actual color of the lipstick.  Instead, you have nice moisture and high shine, with a hint of color.

Rosewine is a gorgeous, warm, berry shade.  This particular color has more lipstick and less swirls of the moisture ribbons throughout, thus making it more pigmented.  On, it becomes a very rich berry color.

Both of these lipsticks live up to the hype of being "moisture rich".  The pigmentation is nice, and really, for as rich and moist of a lipstick, the color doesn't travel off of the lips into the fine lines around your mouth.  Lasting power is pretty good.  It's definitely not what I would consider "long wearing", but it's also not sold as that.

These are SPF15, which is an added bonus.  Retail price is $8 on www.avon.com.
