Bare Escentuals

FOTD w/ It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream, and Fyrinnae Bonfire Spirits & Velvet Vampire

10:06 AM

I wanted to post a quick EOTD/FOTD using some Fyrinnae that have been buried in my makeup drawers before I did my in depth look at the It Cosmetics "Your Skin But Better" CC Cream.  A full face is below, but for the eyes I used Bare Escentuals Big and Bright Eyeliner in Black, and drew the corner and crease.  Blending on top of the black, I used Fyrinnae Bonfire Spirits in the middle of the lid and blended it ontop of the black.  Closer to the inner corner and outer corner of the lower lashline, I blended Fyrinnae Velvet Vampire, which is a bit pinkier than the Bonfire Spirits.  I then took Fyrinnae Dinosaur Plushie on the inner corner and drew it down the lower lashline as well.  The highlight is MAC Vanilla pigment.

I will do a detail on my face in a later post, when I look at the IT Cosmetics as well.

FOTD: Bright Pink & Springy w/ Fyrinnae Chaotic Evil and Sake & Sashimi

9:53 AM

Yesterday, it was 67 degrees here....today, snow with a low of 9.  I am so incredibly ready for spring, so I decided to play around with some bright pinks to brighten the mood.  Fyrinnae Chaotic Evil is a neon pink frost that I received a sample of a couple of months ago, but haven't had time to try out until now.  What an absolutely fun and bright color!  I paired that with Sake & Sashimi in my crease, and really like how the colors blended together.

EOTD: Fyrinnae Electro Koi, Aromaleigh Zinnia, Fyrinnae Velvet Vampire and Aromaleigh Solange

10:46 AM

After several days over overcoming the stomach flu I am finally back.  I decided to go bright and colorful this morning, in hopes of giving my mood a boost.  Besides the stomach bug, the weather has been gloomy too, so I'm in need of some color to brighten the day!

My outfit had lots of coral, purple and pink, so I thought I'd tie in my eyeshadow with it.  Today is a mix of Fyrinnae and Aromaleigh - four colors that worked extremely well together.  Aromaleigh Zinnia (the inner corner shade) actually doesn't look like much when applied, but is a gorgeous pink in the pictures.  Maybe it was the lighting in my bathroom that washed it out, but I love the pop or color below.  Here is what I used:

Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy - all over lid
Aromaleigh Zinnia - inner corner
Fyrinnae Electro Koi - next in towards outer corner from Zinnia
Fyrinnae Velvet Vampire - next in from Electro Koi / blended along lower lashline ontop of liner
Aromaleigh Solange - outer corner, crease
Physicians Formula Gel Eyeliner Trio (green eyes) - the brown shade
Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara

I used to be timid about bright colors, but have managed to mix them into my looks.  For instance, Electro Koi is an extremely bright orange, and although gorgeous in the pot, one might think - what do I do with this?  But, just a subtle application with some more neutral colors can really make a look stand out, without being over the top.

One more thing, I just received the Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara in the mail as a freebie I signed up for on Facebook - it's a pretty good mascara giving some nice definition and length.  I will do a full review after a few more days of trial.

EOTD: Laura Geller "On the Bright Side" Collection

8:19 AM

A very quick EOTD using the Laura Geller "On the Bright Side" collection I posted about on Friday.  (I think these pictures give a better indication as to the colors, where the swatches looked a little distorted to me on the computer).  I am absolutely loving the Eye Rimz in Mystic Sea (below).  This was my first go-round with the Rimz, and they are quite nice.

Just like the other Laura Geller shadows and liners I have used, these are very smooth, creamy, and well pigmented.  The Fresco Pink had a whole different look on, especially when blended with the Mystic Sea.  Honestly, I thought the pink looked a bit warm-toned in the pot, but once applied, it went either way, depending on what was worn with it.  Below, I used the Mystic Sea as a crease shade, as well as a liner, so the pink took on some lavender undertones to blend in with the Rimz.  I also tried the pink with some browns and coppers this weekend, and as a result of that the color took on warmer undertones.  It is quite a chameleon shade.

Eyes:
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Laura Geller "Fresco Pink" - inner corner, blended across lid
Laura Geller "Mystic Sea" - outer corner, crease, and wet as eyeliner
Laura Geller "Milan/Rome" duo - ivory/copper shade used as highlight
Laura Geller ICare Eyeliner "Bone" - lower lashline, waterline
Prestige Blackest Lashes mascara

In retrospect, I don't think I would use the Milan/Rome duo as my highlight, and instead would opt for something a little less shimmery, and more skintone in shade.   I really do love Mystic Sea as an eyeliner - it is multi-faceted in colors and shimmer, so this is a great alternative to the traditional black, while still giving eyes the definition and depth that a typical black eyeliner does.

Thoughts?  Have any of you tried this collection, or any of the Laura Geller Eye Rimz?

Happy Valentine's Day EOTD: Fyrinnae Chaotic Evil & Lights of Stockholm

9:35 AM

Happy early Valentine's Day everyone!  In honor of this red and pink, sugar-coated holiday, I decided I was inspired by one of my very favorite candies - conversation hearts!  I mean the original conversation hearts, too...not the new bright, nasty flavored ones they have made now.  Sorry for the mini-rant, but I was so disappointed this year when I bought my bag of Sweethearts and found they had changed the recipe.  It's the little things in life like the traditional Valentine's candy that I look foward to, and I was sorely disappointed this year.

Anyway, back to my tribute to the original pink conversation hearts!  I usually don't dabble in neons, but I was struck by Fyrinnae's Chaotic Evil sample I recieved in an earlier shipment, and since I hadn't tried it out yet, I figured this was the perfect time to do so!  Chaotic Evil is a really neat color, and definitely outside the box for me.  Not only is it an extremely bright bubble-gum or Barbie pink, but it is a matte with silver shimmer woven throughout.  Unfortunately, my pictures didn't pick this up, but it is quite an amazing shade.  I usually lean towards the frosts and pearls, but I might have a new lemming with these types of shades.  Lights of Stockholm is from Fyrinnae's City Glam Cosmetic glitter collection.  These are not eyeshadows, per say, but can definitely be used around the eye if done carefully.  Unlike true glitters that we think of, which are made of pastic or metal, Fyrinnae has made this line out of lab created minerals that sparkle in a very similar way, and don't scratch the way traditional glitters can.  These City Glam Cosmetic Glitters are a great way to add some sparkle to anything without having to worry about an overly pigmented shade.  I really like to use these as a higlight, on top of a color that I want to enhance the color/shimmer of, and even on their own when I just need a hint of color.  You can also use these over lipgloss, in your hair, add to nailpolish (for all you Frankener's out there!)....the possibilities are endless.  If you haven't tried these out, they are quite beautiful.

Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy - all over lid
Fyrinnae Chaotic Evil - inner corners
Bourjois Ombre a Paupieres Noir Emeraude - outer corner, into crease
Fyrinnae City Glam Cosmetic Glitter Lights of Stockholm - hilight, on top of crease/corner color
Prestige Cosmetics Liquid Glitter Eyeliner "Starlit Black" - liner
Rimmel Volume Flash The Max Mascara
