FOTD: Fyrinnae Velvet Vampire and Alchemist Curse

9:30 AM

OK, so this may be one of my favorite color combinations in a while.  Purple is one of those go-to colors for me when I need a pick me up, and Fyrinnae doesn't disappoint when it comes to their color selection.  For this look, I wanted to wear Velvet Vampire, but needed just a pop more purple in the look, so I paired it with Alchemist Curse.  Talk about two pretty colors together!  On top of that, the dress I have on was Banana Republic steal from eBay, so I was one happy lady with this whole get-up!

Below is the full list of the look:

Face:
Laura Geller Spackle Primer
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer
Laura Geller Balance 'n Brighten - Fair
Nars Laguna - Contour
Nars Orgasm - Blush

I can't remember what was used on the inner corner

Avon

EOTD/FOTD with Avon Glow Eyeliner in Ultra Violet and Laura Geller's Amethyst Skies

8:41 AM

Avon's Glow in Ultra Violet is a bright "blurple" eyeliner with a hint of a satin finish.  Not nearly as shimmery as Desert Gold from yesterday, this color definitely adds a bright pop of color to any look.  I decided to put together an entirely purple look, using Laura Geller's Amethyst Skies pallet for the eyeshadows and then the Ultra Violet on my lower lashline.

For the look, here is what I used:

Face
Laura Geller Champagne Spackle
Laura Geller's Balance 'n Brighten in Fair
Mally Effortless Airbrush blush in Afterglow
Mally Effortless Airbrush highlighter in Purelight

Eyes
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Laura Geller's Amethyst Skies pallet - light shade inner corner, dark shade crease and outer corner
Laura Geller's Amethyst Skies Pallet - highlighter shade - highlight
Physician's Formula Gel Eyeliner Trio for Hazel Eyes - black - upper lashline
Avon Glow Eyeliner in Ultra Violet - lower lashline
Mally Beauty Volumizing Mascara - black

Lips
e.l.f. Lipstain in Fashionista

This pencil is a retractable pencil, extremely fine tipped and very smooth and creamy. I didn't experience any dragging, and was able to smooth and blend out towards the outside of my lashline before it set.   A really pretty, bright and summery color, I'd definitely recommend if you are looking to add something to your collection beyond your basic blacks and browns.

Reader Request: EOTD/FOTD Using Avon's Summer Glow Eyeliner in Desert Gold

11:00 AM

A few days ago when I posted the swatches of the Avon Glow eyeliners for this summer, one of my readers (Fleurs-de-Lisa) requested an EOTD using the Desert Gold, so here you go!

Like I mentioned in the original post, these liners are surprisingly smooth and easy to use, which is a nice adjustment from some of my other Avon eyeliners I've purchased in the past.  I hope this is a new formulation that will be used moving forward, as I am really pleased with the three I picked up from the Summer Glow collection.

For the look I used the following:

Face
Laura Geller Champagne Spackle
Laura Geller Real Deal Concealer in Light
Laura Geller Balance 'n Brighten - Fair

Eyes
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Bare Escentuals White Gold Glimmer - inner corner/highlight
Estee Lauder Pure Color Gelee Powder Eyeshadow in Cyber Lilac - outer corner/crease and wet as eyeliner
Avon Summer Glow Eyeliner in Desert Gold - lower lashline
Mally Beauty Volumizing Mascara - black

Lips
Aromaleigh Color Infusion Botanical Lipstick in Sassy

I love the color combination, but I was in such a hurry the morning I did this look that my blending is terrible!  At least the bottom shot gives you a good look at the Desert Gold eyeliner on.  It is such a beautiful, frosty, white-gold.  It almost has a hint of mint-green in the color as well, just as you move in the light.  If you are looking for a non-brassy gold eyeliner, this would definitely be a nice one to try out!

FOTD: Laura Geller's Real Deal Arsenal

10:35 AM

I don't usually do full-face FOTD's anymore, but seeing as this kit is based around the foundation, primer and concealer, it seemed kind of silly not to!  Anyways, here is a look at the Laura Geller Real Deal Arsenal on, including the blush, lips and plum shadow.  I really love this blush - its a gorgeous color!

FOTD using Bare Escentuals Beautiful in Pearls: Exotic Pearls Collection

1:16 PM

Although I looked and felt terrible the other day, I did want to get a quick FOTD up with the new Bare Escentuals Beautiful in Pearls collection I posted about yesterday.  This was done very quickly and without much imagination, but I find that it is a lot easier to get a feel for colors when you actually see them "on", and not just in swatches.

I used Bare Escentuals Fair foundation all over, with the Pearl Blossom blush.  I did a very basic eye-look with the Exotic Pearl all over the lid and the Black Pearl in the crease.  Although I am admitidly a liquid eyeliner gal, I used the Plum pencil on both the top and bottom to see how well it wore - which was wonderfully by the way!   As I mentioned yesterday, the Layer Cake lipgloss is a beautiful, everyday shade...this is definitely my new "go - to" in my bag!

Very quick, as I said!  More to come tomorrow! :)

FOTD: e.l.f. Royal, Trendy and Confident

8:00 AM

I really am liking these e.l.f. Mineral eyeshadows.  A while back I purchased a handful of them, and several of the colors, including Elegant and Golden have become staples in my daily routine.  With the sale after Thanksgiving, I was able to add to my collection of their eyeshadows as well as pick up some lipsticks from their mineral line as well.  Below I put together a quick, but elegant, FOTD using the Mineral Booster and Shimmer Glow, Trendy, Royal and Confident eyeshadows, Bliss blush and Barely Bitten lipstick.

Face:
Bare Escentuals Fair Foundation
Everyday Minerals Multi Tasking Bisque (Intense)

Bare Escentuals

Fyrinnae FOTD (Samhain Spirits, Shinigami, Liquor is Quicker, Lousey Tip, and Polar Bear)

9:51 AM

I really loved this combination, so I wanted to share it with you! I bought a shirt a few weeks ago that is very colorful, but warm - the colors in it are brick red, egg plant purple, ivory, black and golds. I decided I wanted to try and and mix some of these same shades together, and when I pulled out my drawer of Fyrinnae pigments, three stuck out as perfect: Samhain Spirits, Shinigami and Polar Bear.

This was very easy and I definitely loved it!

Face:
Bare Escentuals Foundation "Light"
Bare Escentuals Tinted Mineral Veil
Laura Geller Blush 'n Brighten "Boysenberry"

Eyes:
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Fyrinnae "Polar Bear" - inner corner
Fyirinnae "Lousey Tip" - middle of lid
Fyrinnae "Samhain Spirits" - outer corner, crease
Fyrinnae "Shinigami" - outer corner, crease, lower lashline

Avon Perfectly Portable Liquid Eyeliner "Black"
Rimmel Volume Flash The Max Mascara

Lips:
Revlon Color Stay Lipstick "Rich Raisin"

FOTD Purple

MAC Eccentricity & Pretty Pattern FOTD

8:04 AM

MAC Eccentricity is a quad with beautiful neutral-purples and golden taupes. I love these colors, especially in the summer when color is more approachable. I bought this quad in particular because of the gorgeous lavender (upper right). I don't have much in this shade, but it is a color I really enjoy wearing because it helps make the green in my hazel eyes pop. I was also drawn to this particular quad because I don't have a real golden/yellow, and instead most of my golds have a cooler undertone.

For this FOTD, I tried using all the colors, although I don't think the camera really captured the differences, as they appear in "real life".

Face:
Everyday Minerals Foundation - Fairly Summer
Bare Escentauls Tinted Feather Light Mineral Veil
MAC Smooth Merge Blush

Eyes:
MAC Eccentricity (light lavender) - all over lid
MAC Eccentricity (dark purple) - outer corner/crease
MAC Eccentricity (gold) - inner corner/lower lashline
MAC Eccentricity (brown) - lower lashline
Smashbox Caviar Eyeliner
Loreal Voluminous Mascara - Black

Lips:
MAC Pretty Pattern Lipglass

I am getting used to the texture and blendability of these Mineralize eyeshadows - they are somewhat gritty, and definitely not as smooth as the "normal" eyeshadows from MAC, but the colors and shimmer are beautiful. I figured out that if I apply with a brush, and then pat in with my finger, I help prevent the fall out that you usually get with the sparkly shadows. To be honest, these remind me of a pressed version of the Solar Bits.
I absolutely love the Lipglass in Pretty Pattern - it is such a great, neutral, pale brown color, and would work well with most skin tones, in my opinion. A great addition if you are looking for something basic and neutral to go with anything!

FOTD - Laura Geller's "Eye Dream of Italy" Collection

8:00 AM

Talk about beautiful and natural - that sums up what the Eye Dream of Italy collection by Laura Geller can do for you!  Not only do all the colors coordinate so well with each other, but they add such a beautiful, almost no makeup look, that is as easy as 1-2-3!

I used the entire collection, and nothing more, to create the look below.  I applied the foundation all over my face, and tightened up the retractable brush when applying under my eyes and around my nose for added coverage.  The blush, which has the color and the highlight, I used on the apples of the cheeks, and then added the shimmering highlight to the cheek bones to add a little depth of color.  For the eyes, I used the blue/purple color all over the lid, lower lashline and into the crease and blended the golden cream color from the brown bone down to where I met the crease color.  Two coats of the mascara and that was it!

This lipstick is basically a lipgloss in disguise!  Not only is it natural in color, but the shine and texture lend itself to more of a gloss.  A perfect everyday shade, I would recommend this for anyone!

Again, this is such an easy look to achieve - I absolutely love Laura's products!
