Olive Smokey FOTD featuring CoverGirl's TruNaked Pallet in Goldens

As I posted yesterday, I am really enjoying this new CoverGirl TruNaked pallet in Goldens.  The colors are just beautiful together, and you can create extremely neutral, to beautiful smokey eyes.  

In this look I used the darker side of the pallet to create a smokey olive look.  In the crease I blended the dark brown (3rd from right) with the darkest shade (far-right).  On the lid I used the olive shimmer (4th from right) and also used this on my lower lashline.  To highlight I used the satin shade on the far left.  This color doesn't have much shimmer, but isn't a true matte.  This just brightened and lifted the eye.

Like I've said - a very versatile pallet at a great price!  I would love to hear what you think of these new colors from CoverGirl! 



Cover Girl

FOTD: Covergirl TruNaked Goldens Pallet

I posted some swatches of the new Cover Girl TruNaked Goldens pallet, and today is a quick FOTD I did using them as well.  These are gorgeous, highly compatible and blendable shadows.  Like I mentioned in the earlier post, I am blown away by the quality of these, especially when used over a base.  CoverGirl was never my "go to" drug store brand for eyeshadows, but I am absolutely loving this pallet and will definitely take a look at the other two available.  I also will say, although they are attempting to be a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked pallets, these do have some different colors in the mix, making these a lot of fun to work with!


Below is my quick cut-crease with the pallet.  I used the darkest brown for the crease, blended it into the third-from-the-left and blended that into the third-from-the-right for my crease.  The lid is the second from the right, and my highlight is the farthest to the right.  Gorgeous - a simple and easy way to create a neutral cut crease, and at a drug-store cost!  

Lips are the Younique Opulence Lipstick in Stuck Up.  Cheeks is the Nars Orgasm blush.

EOTD: Anatastasia Beverly Hills "Self Made" Pallet and Violet Voss "Chocolate Swirl" Glitter

The neutral shades in this Self Made pallet are just gorgeous.  Below I used the following, including some new glitter I picked up from Violet Voss, called "Chocolate Swirl".  

For the look I used the following:
Urban Decay Primer Potion - original
ABH Self Made - Hot and Cold - upper crease
ABH Self Made - Spirit Rock - deep crease/outer corner / lower lashline
ABH Self Made - Witchy - lid / lower lashline
ABH Self Made - Treasure - highlight
Violet Voss "Chocolate Swirl" - applied with their Secret Weapon Glitter Adhesive to lid
ELF Precision Liquid Eyeliner - black
Younique 3D Fiber Lash mascara



Can I just say, that Secret Weapon Glitter Adhesive holds ALL DAY LONG?!  Love this, and have reinvigorated my love for glitter because I won't have fall out!

ColourPop

EOTD: ColourPop Cosmetics Super Shock Eyeshadow in So Quiche

ColourPop are my new found go-to eyeshadows.  I posted swatches of I *Heart* This  a couple of weeks ago, and today I am bringing you So Quiche.  This color is unbelievably complex, and unfortunately very difficult for me to capture in a picture.  The base is a rich taupe with golden olive undertones.  Depending on the light, you capture taupe, and then it shifts to olive and gold.  On top of that, there is this gorgeous multichrome glitter, which changes from pinks, purples, greens and golds.  On me, the purples really show up, which contrasts the golden/olives of the actual base of the shadow.  I absolutely love this color.  It creates the most beautiful smokey eye, works beautifully on my lower lashline to add depth to the look, and lasts all day.  Like the other ColourPop shadows, I used my finger to apply and blended out with a synthetic brush.

FOTD: Wet 'n Wild Limited Edition 8-Pan Palette in "Walk the Red Carpet" & Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes Mascara

Today's look is using a Wet 'n Wild pallet that I forgot I had - untouched and sparkling up at me in my makeup drawer this morning....the Limited Edition 8-Pan in "Walk the Red Carpet".  This gorgeous pan is packed full of golden neutrals, some full of sparkle and some completely matte.  A beautiful set of colors, I can't believe I haven't opened it up until now!  Topped off the gold with my Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lash Mascara and my Revlon Color Burst Matte Balm in Standout, and I was ready to go!

FOTD:Younique Pigments in Beautiful, Irresistable, Daring, and Angelic & Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes Mascara

As I have been recently obsessed with the Younique line, I wanted to play around with their matte pigments, as well as the metallics that I tend to lean towards.  I used all pigments on top of Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin, so there is a slight shimmer even to the mattes as a result.

To create the look I used the following:

UDPP in Sin all over lid
Younique Pigment in Beautiful - upper crease
Younique Pigment in Irresistable - deep in crease
Younique Pigment in Daring - outer corner, deep in crease / lower lashline
Younique Pigment in Confident - inner corner to middle of lid
Younique Pigment in Angelic - ontop of Confident on inner corner / highlight / lower lashline
Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes Mascara

I was pleasantly surprised as to how well the pigments worked on top of a "standard" primer.  I tend to lean towards those that are more sticky in consistency (i.e. Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy) when I am working with loose pigments, but this worked really well.

Sunset EOTD Using Younique Moodstruck Pigments in Heartbroken, Gorgeous and Divine

Another look featuring the Younique Moodstruck pigments.  Talk about color, I absolutely love "Gorgeous", the bright orange color in the crease and along the lower lashline.  This color certainly adds a ton of color and really enhanced the green of my eyes.  I blended the "Gorgeous" into "Heartbroken", which then blended into "Divine", a rich coppery, almost black brown shade.  Line the lids and add the Moodstruck 3D Fiber mascara and I was set!  

I'm ready for fall...can you tell?

Swatches and EOTD: Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoo in "Bad to the Bronze"

I bought the Color Tattoo's about a month back when CVS had BOGO50% on Maybelline, and it has been sitting on my makeup table to use since then.  I heard the hype and wasn't quite sure if I was going to like using a cream shadow.  I'll be honest, I've used the MAC Paintpots and liked them, but I'm much more prone to use my Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy and/or LA Splash Eyeshadow Sealer than I am to pick up the Paint Pot to use as a base for my eyeshadow.  Well, that was until I found this...Bad to the Bronze.  I'm sure you know I wear a lot of neutrals.  Yes, they may be frosty and sparkly, but I like to wear my browns and taupes.  Well, I was digging around for a taupe eyeshadow the other day and couldn't find it, and this Color Tattoo was sitting there staring at me, so I figured "why not?" and gave it a try.

First of all, the swatches and pot-shots...


Bad to the Bronze is a bronzed taupe.  It is very shimmery, so this isn't for the faint of frost.


Next up, a quick look I did using Bad to the Bronze and the dark brown from Wet 'n Wild's "We're Blasting Off" as a darker brown to create some definition. 

I put Bad to the Bronze all over the lid, but not up into the highlight.  While it was still somewhat tacky, I applied the We're Blasting Off to the outer corner and blended it up into the crease.  I can't remember what was used on top as a highlight (sorry).



So what are my thoughts?  These Color Tattoo's are the real deal.  Over the past couple of weeks since I first tried them, I find myself using it more and more.  Using a base like this is taking some getting used to, but I am anxious to get my hands on another color or two to play with.  The consistency is rich, but they aren't so thick that the color flakes off, smears, smudges or fades.  They stay wet just long enough to apply another shadow over the top and work extremely well as a base for such.  I love how much color, frost and pop my eyeshadows that are applied on top show off.  I would say I actually really like these more than I do the MAC Paint Pots.  If you are a taupe lover, this one is for you too.  This Bad to the Bronze is absolutely gorgeous.  I can't say enough about it.

FOTD: Golds and Browns using Laura Geller and Mally Beauty

I haven't worn any golds and browns recently, so I decided to play around with one of my Laura Geller eyeshadow pallets from the Lightness of Beauty Collection (I have yet to swatch on here), as well as some of the items from my Mally Beauty High Performance Essentials Kit I swatched the other day. 

For the look, I used the following:

Below is a closeup of the eyes - these Laura Geller shadows are quite stunning.


I have to say, the Mally liquid lipstick is really nice.  It has a hint of color and sparkle, looks really nice to naturally enhance the lips, and lasts a while without drying out your lips.  I've been playing around with the other items from the kit and so far, I'm really enjoying all of them.  More to come in a further post!

EOTD: Fyrinnae Newcastle and Aromaleigh Earthly Delights

Today's EOTD is a mixture of some of my favorite brands: Fyrinnae and Aromaleigh.  I am anxiously awaiting Fyrinnae's website to post the Halloween 2011 shades  - I am sure they are gorgeous!

Anyway, here's my little look from this weekend - enjoy!

I did a mediocre job at blending, but I find that happens when I'm in hurry - imagine that!  I love Newcastle - not only is it one of my favorite beers, but also one of my hands down favorites of Fyrinnae's.  The pictures above don't even do it justice.  It's just gorgeous.


EOTD Browns

EOTD: Maybelline Color Explosion Eyeshadow Quint "Caffeine Rush"

Here is a very quick, simple, and totally wearable EOTD using the Caffeine Rush from Maybelline's Color Explosion Quints. 


To creat the look I used:

LA Splash Eyeshadow Sealer/Primer - all over lids to prime
Taupe Shimmer (right triangle) - inner corner, all over lid
Brown shimmer ("V") - outer corner, crease
Ivory Highlight (lower triangle) - highlight
Beige Shimmer (left triangle) - lower lashline
Luminizer - all over lids

This lasted all day, without any fall out from the luminizer.  The taupe is by far my favorite color in this set - it's gorgeous.

EOTD: Laura Geller Vanilla Nudes "Vanilla Toffee" and Tropical Dreams I-Dreams "Sunset Horizon"

When I'm in a makeup rut, I tend to fall back on neutrals, and specifically Laura Geller's.  She has so many beautiful shades that are easy to use, blend and mix and match, that her shadows are at the top of my shadow drawer.  Recently I've been sort of in a rut (hello...lack of posting), so I reached for my easy neutrals in LG's collection: Vanilla Toffee from the Vanilla Nudes collection and the I-Dreams Suset Horizon from the Tropical Dreams collection.




The total look goes a little something like this...

Avon

EOTD: Avon 24K Eyeshadow Quad "Golden Splendor"

Looks like it's an Avon week for me!  I wanted to try the entire 24K Golden Splendor palette together, so below I created a look doing just that!  Like I said, this set definitely stepped up the quality for Avon - if the rest of their palettes are like this, I'll have to try out some other colors - the shades blended well together and the pigmentation was quite nice.  


To create the look, I first used LA Splash Eyeshadow Sealer/Primer, then:

Inner corner - golden shade (top left)
Outer corner/crease - deep copper shade (bottom left)
Highlight - pearl frost (top right)
Lower lashline - purple frost (bottom right)



Top off the look with the 24K Gold black mascara, and you're done!

EOTD: Sassy Minerals Pandora's Box / Witty Banter & MAC Phloof

I am absolutely loving Sassy Minerals.  I decided to play with some of the neutral shades that I ordered a while back: Witty Banter (accidentally labeled "Wishful Thinking" below) and Pandora's Box.  Witty Banter is a beautiful champagne color with golden shimmer, and Pandora's Box is a deep coffee brown with golden shimmer.  Topped off with MAC Phloof, and I really like this look for an easy, reliable neutral combination.  I also rediscovered my Bourjois Clubbing Liner in Bronze Dancefloor.




Not a lot more to say except I love these shadows!

Cargo

EOTD: Cargo Hands of Hope Palette

Bring on the neutrals!  After lots of bright silvers, glitters, reds and greens, I was pleased to play around with some neutrals for this EOTD.  I was especially excited to try Cargo's eyeshadows, as this Hands of Hope Palette is my first time with the brand! 



Let me first say that this palette is absolutely gorgeous to look at, and it was so hard to dip my brush into the eyeshadows!  I didn't want to ruin the gorgeous imprint each has.  Luckily, although the shadows are very soft and blendable, they are still solid enough that one sweep of the brush didn't ruin the design at all...pphhheeeww!  Secondly, these colors are very pigmented.  They really remind me of the pigmentation and consistancy of Stila's Kitten: smooth, shimmery, and pigmented.  Thirdly, these shadows are quite large!  I know that most Cargos are, but as far as a pallet goes, these are some of the biggest shadows I've seen.

Below I used three colors, the champagne shade, the deep taupe shade, and the gold shade.

EOTD Browns

MAC "Go"

My most recent MAC purchase is the eyeshadow "Go", from the Starflash Collection.  I believe this is discontinued, but I found it on Ebay for about $9.99.  This color is a beautiful, shimmery, basic brown.  The texture is extremely smooth and blends very easily.  Depending on your skintone, this would be a gorgeous crease or lid color.  


Seeing as I have purchased several brown MAC eyeshadows recently, I thought I would do a comparison of the actual shadows & swatches so you all could see how it compared to each. 


I was very surprised that Tempting ended up "warmer" toned than Go, just based on the picture above.  But, once I swatched it out, you can see that Go is a little bit cooler tone, and Tempting appears to be more copper colored.

Here is a quick look I did using Phloof all of the eyes, Go in the crease and Lancome Artliner Eyeliner in Starflash.  A great color, I think Go is definitely one to add to anyone's collection!
