Soft & Smokey FOTD: Cargo Hands of Hope Pallet

11:35 AM

It has been extrodinarily hot and humid here in the midwest over the past week, and it doesn't look like that's about to change anytime soon.  Since I haven't worn much makeup on the weekends to give my skin a break from fighting makeup on the humid days, I was organizing my stash.  I found tons I haven't worn in a while.  A couple of Christmases ago I received the Cargo Hands of Hope Pallet, and it was calling me to use this morning.  This is one of those pallets that I think is just too pretty to use, but I really wanted to wear a blue and gold that had a softer pigmentation and finish and these two fit the bill.

Below are the three shades I used to create this look - the royal blue and gold from the middle row, and the champagne shade from the middle row as well.

For the look below, here is what I used:

Face
Laura Geller Champagne Spackle
Laura Geller Real Deal Concealer - Light
Laura Geller Balance 'n Brighten - Regular
Mally Bronzer - Light
Laura Geller Blush 'n Brighten - Apricot Berry

Eyes
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Cargo Hands of Hope Pallet - Gold - inner corner/lower lashline
Cargo Hands of Hope Pallet - Dark Blue - middle of lid
MAC Venomous Villain's "She Who Dares" - Blue side - outer corner
Cargo Hands of Hope Pallet - Champagne - highlight
L'oreal Voluminous Power Volume 24Hr Mascara - Black

Lips
e.l.f. Lipstick in Just Bitten

Hopefully you all had a nice weekend!  Here's to another week...

Bare Escentuals

I'm back...and the last of my Christmas goodies! Cargo Boogie Nights and Buxom Babes Holiday Escapades

9:56 AM

I am finally back!  These past few weeks have been very hectic, and apologize for the mini-hiatus.  I did find my battery, too, so as promised I am wrapping up my goodies from Christmas.  Below are pictures of the Cargo Boogie Nights eyeliner set and the Bare Escentuals Holiday Escapades Buxom Babe collection.  As always, you can click the images below to enlarge.

Cargo's Boogie Nights Eye Pencil collection is a set of gorgeous blues, silvers and purples, all infused with silver glitter.  I was first introduced to Cargo this Christmas - between the Hands of Hope palette and this eyeliner set, I am absolutely in love with the brand.  Just as the eyeshadows are, these eyeliners are very pigmented and creamy.  When you apply them, there isn't any tugging or pulling, and the line goes on very smooth and dark.  I love the purple and blue colors.  I find it hard to get a good blue or purple, especially those that aren't too red.  These are beautiful - the blue is a rich navy and the purple is just that...PURPLE!  Add the Aqua and Silver and you really have a well rounded collection of cool-colored eyeliners.

The Bare Escentuals Buxom Babes are some of my favorite lip glosses, and this collection is no exception.  Not only are these the great formula that many have come to love, but they come in a convenient tube that easily can be stuck in your purse and not take up a lot of space.  The Holiday Escapades set (below) comes in some gorgeous colors for the holidays, but really if you separate them, you'll see that these shades will work well into the spring and summer.  Merry is a sparkely nude with pink glitter.  Hope is clear frost packed with irridescent glitter.  Holly looks just like it sounds - a perfect holiday red with red glitter.  And Joy is a gorgeous champagne with white/frost glitter.

I love all of these - again, these are the Buxom lipglosses that we all have learned to love, but are kicked up a notch with all the frost and shimmer that are packed in these little tubes.  Holly is a great way to add just a hint of color, and the others are just as beautiful ontop of a lipstick as they are on their own!

I have to say, I was very spoiled this Christmas - now I get to post all of them in use! :)

EOTD: Cargo Hands of Hope Palette

9:24 AM

Bring on the neutrals!  After lots of bright silvers, glitters, reds and greens, I was pleased to play around with some neutrals for this EOTD.  I was especially excited to try Cargo's eyeshadows, as this Hands of Hope Palette is my first time with the brand!

Let me first say that this palette is absolutely gorgeous to look at, and it was so hard to dip my brush into the eyeshadows!  I didn't want to ruin the gorgeous imprint each has.  Luckily, although the shadows are very soft and blendable, they are still solid enough that one sweep of the brush didn't ruin the design at all...pphhheeeww!  Secondly, these colors are very pigmented.  They really remind me of the pigmentation and consistancy of Stila's Kitten: smooth, shimmery, and pigmented.  Thirdly, these shadows are quite large!  I know that most Cargos are, but as far as a pallet goes, these are some of the biggest shadows I've seen.

Below I used three colors, the champagne shade, the deep taupe shade, and the gold shade.

EOTD:
e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
Cargo Hands of Hope Gold - inner corner
Cargo Hands of Hope Taupe - outer corner, crease
Cargo Hands of Hope Champagne - highlight
Smashbox Caviar eyeliner
Lashblast Mascara - Black

My Christmas Haul! (Part 1): Cargo Hands of Hope Palette and Kat Von D Rock n Roll Palette **Pic Heavy**

11:05 AM

I hope you all had a great holiday weekend!  It's hard to believe that 2010 is just around the corner!  I know one thing, this year has blown by so quickly, but it was a fantastic year, so no complaints here!

I was very lucky this year when it comes to the gifts I received.  My mom bought me the Cargo Hands of Hope Palette, as well as I received the Kat Von D Palette below.  Both are full of beautiful colors, so I did my best to take tons of pictures so the colors come through.  I have never tried either brand before, although I've read rave reviews for both.  Needless to say, I am so excited to try these out!

The Kat Von D Rock 'n Roll palette has two light shimmery shades, as well as two darker, but still shimmery shades.

"Believer" - Bright white with silver shimmer/sparkles
"Confessional" - Frosty champagne with golden shimmer
"Groupie" - Deep eggplant purple with blue-ish shimmer/pearl
"Motorhead" - dark charcoal/black with hint of sparkle

I used my finger to apply these.  The first shade, Believer, is a bit chunky, so I think using Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy underneath would really help pull the color, and sparkles out.  Confessional is a beautiful champagne shade, which I can already tell will be used often by me.  Groupie is a very different purple than I usually use.  I'm anxious to try this out in a look.  The eyeshadow itself is a little "chalkier" than the other shades, but think it does have potential.  I love the Motorhead - I have been needing a good, dark, charcoal to use in smokey looks, but haven't found one yet.  Hopefully this will be it!

The Cargo Hands of Hope Palette is filled with huge, shimmery, colorful eyeshadows.  From my initial swatches, these feel very similar to the texture of Stila Kitten, so that to me is a HUGE plus!  I love the versatility of the shades.  There are neutrals as well as brights, all are shimmery, and some even have hints of glitter.  Although these are not named, I have attached close ups of all of the eyeshadows below, including the swatches.

As I said earlier, I have never tried Cargo's eyeshadows.  When I have read about the brand, everything has been positive, especially when speaking about their colors and pigmentation.  Each of these shadows were are smooth, creamy, and very well-pigmented.  I love how shimmery these are.  The golden shades look like crushed metal, but go on effortlessly when applied.  I think my favorite color is the teal - I do not have much in the blue category of shades, but this color is absolutely beautiful and reminds me of a crystal clear ocean.

I will be posting pictures of makeup-looks using these eyeshadows, as well as some more goodies in my upcoming posts!

How were your Christmas/Holiday festivities?  Did you get anything new and exciting?  I'd love to hear about it!
