Is it summer yet?  I don't know where you guys are, but here in the Midwest we keep getting teased with a day or two of nice warm sunshine, and then it reverts back to wet, dreary, and cold!  In an effort to bring back that warm sun, I was playing around with some warm golden hues the other day, and thought I would share.  I will detail the look a little bit later, but the eyeshadows I used are below.  From top left, clockwise they are:  Aromaleigh Elements Lustre in "Fraud", Sassy Minerals "Pandora's Box" and the bottom shade is Fyrinnae's "Druid Wererwolf".


To create the look below, I used Laura Geller's Baked Minerals Foundation in Fair on top of her Ethereal Rose Spackle.  The blush I am using is Laura Geller's split Blush 'n Brighten in Ethereal Rose and Subtle Orchid.  I absolutely love this shade - it is the brightest, happiest pink blush I think I own.  For my eyes, I used the following:

Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy - all over lid
Sassy Minerals "Pandora's Box" - outer corner, crease
Aromaleigh Elemental Lustre "Fraud" - inner portion of lid
Fyrinnae "Druid Werewolf" - inner corner and blended into crease, as well as blended at crease up into highlight
MAC Vanilla Pigment - highlight

My lips are It Cosmetics "Je ne sais quoi".

FOTD: Bare Escentuals Celestine, Sassy Minerals Pandora's Box, Milani Lilly White and NYX Cream Pallet in Sweet Chocolate Brown

I have been looking at my NYX Glitter Cream Pallet Sweet Chocolate Browns for a couple of days now trying to figure out something to do with them.  I've used them on top of eyeshadows, but one thing I've wanted to try is to apply the glitters on top of a black eyeliner to try and add some glitz.  I was drawn to the gold microglitter, so I built a look around it.  Unfortunately, I didn't have my "good" camera on hand, so the resolution isn't great below, but I think you can still see how it turned out.

Today's EOTD is another mix of Fyrinnae and Aromaleigh and Sassy Minerals.  This one is a mix of golds, bronzes and olives as well, but I did it a little backwards.

EOTD: Sassy Minerals Pandora's Box / Witty Banter & MAC Phloof

I am absolutely loving Sassy Minerals.  I decided to play with some of the neutral shades that I ordered a while back: Witty Banter (accidentally labeled "Wishful Thinking" below) and Pandora's Box.  Witty Banter is a beautiful champagne color with golden shimmer, and Pandora's Box is a deep coffee brown with golden shimmer.  Topped off with MAC Phloof, and I really like this look for an easy, reliable neutral combination.  I also rediscovered my Bourjois Clubbing Liner in Bronze Dancefloor.

EOTD Blue

EOTD: Taylor Made Minerals "Mirage", Sassy Minerals "Star Struck", MAC Pigment "Quick Frost"

A little bit different of a look for today, using Taylor Made Minerals in Mirage, Sassy Minerals in Star Struck and MAC Pigment in Quick Frost.  I have to admit, I completely forgot about my Taylor Made Minerals, and they are absolutely stunning.  I have found that they are even more beautiful now that I have discovered the Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, so that is a huge plus!  A lot of the shades from TMM that I have purchased were duochrome, and when applied dry they just didn't *pop*.  Mirage is a prime example.  In the pot, the product looks like a matte white with a light blue sheen.  When applied over the Pixie Epoxy, the shade takes on a whole new life!  (Click here to see pictures of the Taylor Made Minerals in the pot/swatched).  Instead of being just a basic white, the actual shimmer of the periwinkle blue shows up, and it's almost like a light has been turned on.  This is such a gorgeous pale lavender/blue shade with just enough shimmer to stand out.  Seeing as the dress I was wearing had the same pale blue shade, I chose Sassy Minerals "Star Struck" as the darker shade.  In the pot, this color looks like a deep navy/purple with silver sparkle.  Again, using the Pixie Epoxy made this color even more complex and beautiful.  Because I paired it with Mirage, the more blue/navy shades came through.  Add the MAC Pigment as the highlight, and the whole look is tied together.

FOTD Sassy Minerals "Dreamy" and "Lyrical"

I find that when the weather warms up, I am more apt to play with colors.  Today was no exception, and after receiving the beautiful blues and greens in my Sassy Minerals order last week, I couldn't wait to try both of them out together: Dreamy and Lyrical.   Dreamy is the beautiful mint/green/turquoise and Lyrical is a deep sparkly turquoise.  Although I will definitely be using Lyrical as an eyeliner, I thought I'd give it a try as an actual shadow - the pictures below do not do it justice!  Unfortunately, with the lighting and flash, Lyrical looks almost black, but in person it is definitely a deep and rich turquoise.

I am so pleased at how beautiful the Sassy Minerals eyeshadows are.  For as glittery and sparkley as these two shadows are, they really do blend very well together.  I have had very minimal "dragging", where you see creases and skips in the blending.  Even if this has happened, it's as easy as taking the blending brush back to it in order to get the blending complete.  I will say, however, that with these two eyeshadows the Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy is a must!  This allows the shimmer to be maintained throughout the day, as well as the true colors and pigmentations of the shadows to litterly shine through.

FOTD: Sassy Minerals Dreamy, After Party, Crown Jewels and After Burn

After receiving my Sassy Minerals order last week, I couldn't wait to play with the colors.  I decided to play with some blues and greens, and put together a look using Dreamy, After Party, Crown Jewels and the After Burn Blush. 

I just love how sparkly and faceted all of these shades are.  They work so well to "brighten" up a look, or really add some glam to the whole thing.  All of these shades work exceptionally well wet as an eyeliner too - you can see this in my swatches from Friday.  After Burn is a great rich coral blush, giving you a great flushed look with the highlight/shimmer shining through.

New Sassy Minerals Haul and Pictures!

I ordered a set from Sassy Minerals earlier this week, and I received it last night in the mail - what a way to start the weekend!  I had ordered a set a while back - last November I think - so it was time to try some more new colors out.  (You can see my original order here)

I fell in love with the blushes, particularly "Plus One", from first batch - at $0.75 a sample, you really can't beat it!  I still have plenty left to go for a month or so longer, so it's a great way to try out the colors.  The other thing that is really neat about their website, is under the "Get Cheeky" section for blushes, there is a sub-section called "Deja Vu" - here you can find great dupes for some of your favorite shades, including Bare Escentuals and Nars.  It's a great concept, and again for the price, you can't beat trying them out!

After Party:  Apparently I really liked this color because I ordered it again!  This is a beautiful shimmery, deep, golden olive.  I absolutely love this is an eyeliner, but it works well as a deep crease color as well.

Crown Jewels:  A prime example as to how a products description can truly represent what it is.  This shade looks exactly like crushed rubies, sapphires and marcasite.  Think deep silver with flashes of blues and reds.  Its gorgeous on its own, but works very well as a dark eyeliner. 

Off Kilter:  This is a very unique color.  It has hints of violet, lavender and pink with flashes of blue and truquoise sparkle.  Beautiful for spring, it reminds me of a field of hyacinth.  I love the shimmer and sparkle in this also.  Actually, I may play around with some of this and try to make a nail polish with it too!


Lyrical:  Deep turquoise with turquoise sparkle.  I think this is a black base, but its very hard to tell.  The color is unbelievably deep, full of shimmer and just plain neat!  I'll be wearing this one as a liner for sure....

Dreamy:  A beautiful mint green frost with flashes of turquoise shimmer.  This reminds me of crushed sea glass that washes up on the beaches.  It is a neat color, that typically either works itself towards green or blue on, but this truely is a mixture of both. 


Star Struck:  A deep royal purple with silver flashes of sparkles.  When I pulled this out and opened it, I first thought of a starry night.  Its a beautifully unique color.  For those of you old Bare Escentuals users, this reminds me of the old eyeliner called Amethyst.  A perfect shade for an eyeliner.


Witty Banter:  This shade is a pale golden color with a hint of pinky coral undertones.  It reminds me a bit of a darker version of Fyrinnae's Polar Bear.  This would look really nice on warmer and darker skin tones.  I am anxious to try this version of gold out because a lot of mine are much more "yellow" and not quite as gold. 


Hopeless Romantic Blush:  A rich, rosey coral with flashes of beige and golden shimmer.  This reminds me of a darker version of Plus One when I look at it in the pot, but I think once I swatch them next to eachother, Hopeless Romantic will be a bit deeper and not quite as shimmery.   


After Burn:  You know when you have a tan, sit out in the sun, and get that hint of pink on your skin and cheeks?  That is what After Burn is - a deep coral color with warmer under tones.  The shimmer and frost reflect back some berry and gold.  Gorgeous for the summer!


Whisper in my Ear:  A pale bronze shade with golden shimmer.  I haven't tried this on my cheeks, but when I swatched it, I think this might be my new "bronzer".  It's not exatctly bronze, as it still has a hint of peach to it, so you don't have that dirty look that some bronzers leave behind.  Not overly pigmented, either, so it is easier to apply than some. 


Swatches of everything are below.  I used the Pixie Epoxy on the bottom half, and next to each swatch I applied the shades wet so you could see their application as a liner.  Below the entire set, I took close-ups of shades to give you a better glimpse into their complexity. 








I know I have said this before, but these Sassy Minerals are a great buy for the price, have quick shipping, and quite a variety of shades.  I will do a FOTD with some of these during the upcoming week!

EOTD Blue

FOTD: Fyrinnae Otherworld, Geek Glam, and Sassy Minerals Fierce

The sun is finally out here in the midwest, so as a tribute to the bright blue skies, I decided to venture outside of the neutrals I've been wearing lately into my Fyrinnae and Sassy Mineral stash to play with some color.  I decided to use Fyrinnae Otherworld, Geek Glam and Sassy Minerals Fierce, along with LA Splash Nude Diamonds.  As an added bonus, I finally got to use my Milani Infinate Liquid Eyeliner in Endless. 

I have to preface this with a disclaimer:  I did rush through this look because I was in a hurry, but you at least get the general idea.  I do think I could have blended better, and cleaned up some of the fall out, so I will have to keep special attention to that next time.

I find it odd how blending the Otherworld into Fierce made it turn out to be blacker(?) in the picture, and in person for that matter.  Fierce is a warmer purple, but I wanted to add that light turquoise over the top - I don't think I'll do that next time.  I am loving the purple color of Milani's eyeliner in Endless - this is truely purple, and nothing more - it doesn't look black, it doesn't look brown, it's p-u-r-p-l-e, and I love it!

Rimmel Volume Flash The Max and Wet n Wild Mega Eyes Defining Marker

I am always on the lookout for new mascaras, and Rimmel never seems to fail me with this respect. While wandering through the sale section of Halloween cosmetics (you can't beat 75% off false eyelashes!), I found that Rimmel has come out with another (and newer) version of their Volume Flash mascara - this one called Rimmel Volume Flash The Max. I also found Wet n Wild Mega Eyes Defining Marker eyeliner.

Rimmel Volume Flash The Max comes in the prettiest color package - I love bright pink, and it definitely stands out amongst the loads of mascaras I have in my drawer (especially those in black packages!). The tube is thick, so it's easy to hold onto and use. The brush is stiff, not flimsy, and reaches in between each lash (picture of the brush-head below).

Rimmel puts it best:

The brush reminds me of the Maybelline Colossal Mascara brush, but not quite as clunky. The formula of this mascara is very smooth and isn't clumpy at all. Because of the viscosity of the mascara itself, you can layer and layer without looking like a spider when you're done - not to mention, you don't need more than two coats to achieve rich, thick and lush lashes.


As I mentioned above, I also discovered the Wet n Wild Mega Eyes Defining Marker. I believe this only comes in black right now, which is fine by me! I love eyelining markers - mark. (Avon) had one a while back that I used so often it dried up and then they discontinued it, so I'm thrilled to have a replacement. I find that these are so much easier than pencils, your standard liquids, and even gel eyeliners because it is like you are drawing in your eyes, not using a brush or utensil to do the drawing for you.

Below is an extreme closeup of the applicator - it looks like a calligraphy pen! It's flexible, and very forgiving when you apply. The line is very smooth and it's not so dark that it looks like you used a Sharpie on your eyes.


Although I didn't use the eyeliner in the look below, I did want to give you an opportunity to see the Rimmel Volume Flash The Max mascara at work. This is my very easy, go-to mascara, so I'm thrilled I found it (and only had to spend about $5 for it, too!). As I've said in the past, I think Rimmel makes some of the best mascaras out there.
