I'm not going to lie, I went ahead and woke up at 2:00 in the morning to make sure I could get my hands on the relaunch of the Urban Decay Vice LTD pallet.  In the meantime, I had already purchased the Vice 3 Pallet, and had decided it was my Christmas present to myself, so held off on using it until just now.

Revlon PhotoReady Eye Art in Topaz Twinkle

3:28 PM

Revlon recently introduced a new line in the PhotoReady collection: Lid+Line+Lash.  This is a double ended set, one with a cream shadow and the other with a glitter eyeliner.  The color I purchased was Topaz Twinkle .

Topaz Twinkle is a molten pale taupe, leaning almost rose in color.  The liner side has the same color glitter, along with a holo of the same size.  These can be worn alone, or layered (as seen below).  Interestingly enough, when these dry, they stay put.  I mean, no budging (see the video below for proof!).  I did not experience any smudging, moving, running, or creasing either.

Personally, my only complaint had to do with the wear.  These did wear like iron for me most of the day, but when I used the shadow on the lower lashline, it started to peel by the end of the day.  Overall, for a night out on the town, these worked perfectly and added a nice pop of glitter to a look.  If you are looking for New Years, these would be a nice way to add some glitz at a budget friendly price!

Inspiration: Great Gatsby / Flapper Inspired Hair and Makeup Using

9:00 AM

Every year my company has two Holiday sales meetings back to back - the first one is themed for Halloween and the second is themed for Christmas.  Last week was meeting #1, so I decided to go as a flapper.  After watching tutorials on YouTube of pin waves, I spent the morning getting my hair ready so I could do my makeup while it set.

Most flapper or Roaring 20's type makeup I could find online looked to be smokey eyes and red lips, so I decided to take it up a notch with some glitter.  I used the same eyeshadow as earlier last week (here), but topped it off with Fyrinae's Pixie Epoxy and some glitter I had by Mary Kate and Ashley (remember when Walmart used to carry that?!).  The picture below doesn't do it justice!  This was a lot of fun to wear!

Revlon Fall/Winter 2014 Boho Chic Collection by Gucci Westman: Closeup & Swatches of Creme Luxe Eyeshadow in Street Style

1:57 PM

Every year I look forward to the Gucci Westman collaboration with Revlon, and this year did not disappoint.  There are several gorgeous glitter-infused nail polish, new eyeshadow quads, and as I discovered this year, a Luxe Creme eyeshadow in Street Wear.

This particular shadow has a consistency similar to the other gel products that have hit the market recently: Almay Eyeshadow Softies, L'Oreal Visible Lift Blushes, just to name a few.  Although there was only one color on the display, I imagine this is the first of many to come for Revlon and their entries into the market.

The color is a rich black base with tons of shimmer: gold, blue, turquoise and evergreen.

The consistency is that of a sponge.  Very soft, not wet, and easy to use and blend with just your fingertip.  Unfortunately, as I just swatched this, I cannot speak to the duration of the product, but I do intend on using it tomorrow and testing it on some primer.

I absolutely love the color.  Anything that has green in it is instantly a hit for me.  I would love to see this kind of a shade in a gel eyeliner (hint hint...).  Reminds me a lot of the green side on the MAC Venomous Villians "She Who Dares" eyeshadow.  Pretty!!

Have you seen and/or tried this yet?  I checked google and didn't see anything on it, but figured I would ask!

EOTD Blue

FOTD using Younique Pigments in Empowered, Dignified, Innocent, and Beautiful as well as NYX Sunset and Urban Decay Naked 2 Blackout

9:58 AM

\

This morning's FOTD/EOTD features more Younique products...this time, their pigments.  I wanted to play around with some greens and blues, so I picked Dignified and Empowered out of my samples, as well as a matte rust brown called Beautiful.  Empowered is a very pale sea foam green with golden duochrome.  Dignified is a rich turquoise, with sparks of green, blue and gold.  I mixed these colors with NYX Sunset, a rich orange to burnt orange frost and the Blackout shade from the Urban Decay Naked 2 pallet.

The Younique pigments are very rich and, I know...shocker...PIGMENTED!  They are very smooth, creamy, and a little goes a long way.  I used the Dignified as a liner on the bottom by applying it wet, and it went on extremely smoothly and did not fall into the lines along my undereye.  The mattes applied effortlessly, without any chalkiness or grabbing and pulling on the lid.  I have been extremely impressed with how well the shadows blend together, to create that seamless transition between colors.

On top of how workable these pigments are, let me tell you a few more things about them:

-  They are 100% Natural
-  They are chemical free
-  Mineral based
-  They are free of talc oils, preservatives, perfumes, synthetic dyes and parabens
-  No creasing, smudging or smearing!

At $10 a pop, these are going to last you a very long time, and are very versatile.  I can't wait to create some more looks and share them with you!

Nail Decals

Spotted at CVS: Revlon Candy Vibes 3D Jewel Appliques for Nails

9:16 AM

Nail Appliques are becoming the "it" thing, and Revlon has another set (which apparently is for Valentines?) that I found at my local CVS last week called Candy Vibes.  A collection of confectionery inspired nail appliques, there are some vine designs to choose from.  My favorite would be the gumballs and the gum drop themes.  Closeups below - really cute and fun for spring/summer!

You can click on any of the images below to get closeups - for some reason they are posting upside down, and because of Day Light Savings...my brain isn't working fast enough to figure out how to switch them! :)

Lipsticks

Swatches: Revlon Limited Edition Vintage Super Lustrous Lipsticks in Jungle Peach and Snow Peach

2:44 PM

THe Revlon Limited Edition Vintage Lipsticks have finally been released, and I was so excited when I saw a brand new display at Walgreens, with BOGO1/2 on the ticket!  I used this opportunity to pick up Jungle Peach and Snow Peach

Jungle Peach looks really bright orange on my lack-of-sun-and-Vitamin-D skin right now, but when actually applied to the lips, its a nice, muted milky-cream peach leaning nude shade.  I really was pleasantly surprised with this, and see where I will be reaching for this color A LOT!

Snow Peach is a bright coral, still slightly muted and milky, but definitely brighter and pinkier than Jungle Peach.  This will be great in the summer.

Below, swatches on.  First, Jungle Peach.

Then, Snow Peach.

I think I need Sandstorm.  I remember loving that color.  What is your favorite re-release?

Lip Balms

Swatches of Revlon Color Burst Matte Balms in 250 Standout Remarquable and 225 Sultry Sulfureuse

11:50 AM

After reading numerous reviews of the Revlon Colorburst balms, I decided to use some CVS Extra Care Bucks to put towards two of the matte shades called Standout Remarquable (250) and Sultry Sulfureuse (225).

Standout is a bright, neutral, red.  On my skin tone, it appears a bit cooler, but I think overall this is mostly on the neutral spectrum.  Sultry is a deep mauve shade. Both are matte, and have a smooth, almost velvety texture when applied.

I have found over time, that a lot of the matte lip colors out there are either drying or cakey.  These most definitely are not.  The Revlon ColorBurst apply so smoothly, evenly, and with precision on the lip.  Pigmentation is stellar - comparable to a lipstick - not translucent or waxy like a lot of the crayons on the market right now.  Truly a great product, I would certainly suggest you grab one for your purse in a color that you wear the most.  If you are looking for a good, go-to red, pick up Standout.  It is quite honestly the most perfect red I have in my bag right now.

Below is a FOTD using the Sultry.  Love it.

What color have you picked up?  I am going to snag some of the other shades/types and swatch them as well.  These really are great!

These are available to purchase at your local drug stores and mass merchandiser - retail for approximately $7.99-8.99 depending on the location.

CVS

Spotted at Walgreens: Revlon Perfumerie Nail Polish Gift Sets "Indulgent" and "Paradise"

9:16 AM

The newest nail polish collection from Revlon is called Perfumerie.  The collection includes shimmers and cremes, all named for their fragrance - display picture below, from CVS.

Walgreen's, as well as the other drug stores, have started to put out their holiday displays.  On top of the shelves I saw a couple of boxes with the Revlon Perfumerie polishes in them  -  gift sets of two polishes for $10.  The two gift sets I saw were Indulgent (Spun Sugar and Bordeaux) and Paradise (China Flower and Pink Pineapple).  Cute little gifts or stocking stuffers (or an in expensive way to pick up two!).

Have you seen these yet?  How about the Perfumerie polishes?  Have you tried them yet?  I just picked up Autumn Spice from the display above at CVS, so I am anxious to give it a try.   The color looks beautiful in the bottle.

FOTD Green

FOTD: Maybelline Color Quint "Forest", MAC She Who Dares & Revlon Timeless Nude

10:25 AM

I am ready for spring.  I'm ready for the colors, the sun, and the warmer weather.  We are supposed to get a snow storm today, so I decided that bright colors were on the "to wear" list.  Yes, my shirt is black, but I have a lime green skirt on (the color of the beads on my necklace), hence the choice of eyeshadow.

The colors/pallets I used were Maybellines Eye Studio Color Explosion Quint in Forest, MAC Venomous Villains She Who Dares eyeshadow (green side), and L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Golden Emerald.  Partnered with Revlon's Colorstay Mineral Lipgloss in Timeless Nude, I am really liking this look.

For the look, here is what I used:

Face
Make Up For Ever Microperfecting Primer
Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Coverage Foundation 115 Ivory
Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder
MAC Mineralize Blush in Hand Finish

Eyes
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
MAC She Who Dares (green side) - outer corner into crease
L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Golden Emerald - middle of lid
Maybelline Eye Studio Color Explosion Quint "Forest" - lime green - inner corner
Milani Lilly White - highlight
Mally Volumizing Mascara - black

Lips
Revlon Color Stay Mineral Lipgloss in Timeless Nude

Who else is ready for spring!?

PhotoReady

Swatches: Revlon PhotoReady Eyeshadow Pallet in Metropolitan

2:27 PM

Recently I had someone tell me that I needed to try the new Revlon PhotoReady Eyeshadow pallets - these come with three coordinating colors, an eyeshadow primer, and a "top coat" of shimmer that also coordinates.

I picked up Metropolitan and Pop Art.  Today I have swatches of Metropolitan.

This pallet is a neutral/taupe pallet.  The two darker colors are a rich cocoa powder taupe, and then a shimmery taupe.  The highlight shade is a peachy/pink.  The primer is also a peachy pink shimmer, and the top coat color is a frosty warm brown.

Onto the swatches - Top (without primer), Bottom (with primer).

(primer, highlight, middle shade, crease, top coat)

Honestly, the primer doesn't do much for this pallet - maybe it's just me, but I'll stick with my trusted Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy and/or UDPP.  I didn't get much more punch, and these colors are truly beautiful in the pallet.  After several days of playing with these colors, I've found the primers that work the best and there is a lot of potential for these shades.  The highlight color is a bit too dark for me, but I'm sure that has to do with the fact that I am extremely pale.  It makes a gorgeous lid color, though.

I'm a bit wishy-washy on Metropolitan.  The colors are wearable every day, but nothing out of the ordinary.  I'm sure I have several colors that would be nice dupes for these in my collection, but if you are looking for a wearable, easy to coordinate, and easy for everyday pallet of taupes/browns, this is a nice one to try out.  Just don't expect much for the primer as far as amping up the color of your shadow.  It didn't do much for me.  Now, with other primers, this works very well for me, so I will have some pictures to post in a few days.  Trying out several combinations before I do post.

Have you tried these shadow sets by Revlon yet?  What have you thought?
