Shakeup Your Makeup

Taking a step away from my "neutral" rut I've been in recently, I decided to play matchy-matchy with my shirt and wear a rich emerald green smokey eye.  To do this, I am using an old shadow I dug up - Hard Candy Meteorite Shadow in Space Cadet (a rich emerald frost with emerald glitter), as well as Aromaleigh Spectacularly Ignorant and Urban Decay Naked2 Pallet.  

For the look, here is how I did it:

Is it summer yet?  I don't know where you guys are, but here in the Midwest we keep getting teased with a day or two of nice warm sunshine, and then it reverts back to wet, dreary, and cold!  In an effort to bring back that warm sun, I was playing around with some warm golden hues the other day, and thought I would share.  I will detail the look a little bit later, but the eyeshadows I used are below.  From top left, clockwise they are:  Aromaleigh Elements Lustre in "Fraud", Sassy Minerals "Pandora's Box" and the bottom shade is Fyrinnae's "Druid Wererwolf".

To create the look below, I used Laura Geller's Baked Minerals Foundation in Fair on top of her Ethereal Rose Spackle.  The blush I am using is Laura Geller's split Blush 'n Brighten in Ethereal Rose and Subtle Orchid.  I absolutely love this shade - it is the brightest, happiest pink blush I think I own.  For my eyes, I used the following:

Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy - all over lid

Sassy Minerals "Pandora's Box" - outer corner, crease

Aromaleigh Elemental Lustre "Fraud" - inner portion of lid

Fyrinnae "Druid Werewolf" - inner corner and blended into crease, as well as blended at crease up into highlight

MAC Vanilla Pigment - highlight

My lips are It Cosmetics "Je ne sais quoi".

A day late on posting my St. Patrick's Day EOTD, featuring Aromaleigh and Fyrinnae, but better late than never!  I have absolutely fallen in love with Spectacularly Ignorant from Aromaleigh.  This gorgeous evergreen with gold sparks really blends well with a lot of other colors I have in my collection, so I tend to reach for it a lot.  I blended it into Dark Fantasy from the Fyrinnae Archane Magic collection to create a deep smokey eye for St. Patty's.  

Hopefully everyone had a great day yesterday!  Anyone find that pot of gold we've all been looking for? :)  

All this snow has me thinking about warm beaches and tropical blue waters.  So....when I found a $2 off coupon for L'oreal and was able to pick up the Infallible shadow in "Dive Right In", I decided to build a EOTD around this color that could get me out of the winter doldrums.  (Click on any of the images below to enlarge).

I just received a new order of Aromaleigh eyeshadows, two of which went really well with Dive Right In, so I decided to coordinate around them.  Spectacularly Ignorant (from the Sherlock Holmes "Brilliant Deductions" collection) and Tribute Token (from the Hunger Games "Ever In Your Favor" collection) are two absolutely stunning, multifaceted, colors.  Can we talk about how absolutely gorgeous these are?  Not to mention, pigmented, long lasting, and just down right unique!  

Spectacularly Ignorant is a very deep teal to evergreen base with golden shimmer.  Tribute Token is a mustard green that has pink and copper shimmer.  Both are extremely multifaceted, and it is difficult to capture in the pictures below, although the swatch of Tribute Token is pretty close.

I honestly don't know if this Avon Satin Satisfaction lip color is even still available, but I saw it sitting, unopened, in my drawer and thought I'd take it out and try it.  Honestly, I don't even remember getting this, so it's definitely been a while. 

 

Satin Satisfaction lip colors are medium to full coverage lip colors in a tube, which use a very flexible flat tip (kind of like a doe-foot) applicator to apply.  These have SPF15 and do not have a glossy finish, hence the name "satin".  There were several colors to choose from, and I clearly went out on a limb to pick out red...not a typical color for me.

 

 

The swatch below is two swipes on the lip.  If you zoom in, my natural lip shows through, so this is a buildable coverage.  The texture is velvety.  It doesn't dry completely, but it also isn't sticky or glossy like a typical lip gloss.  Instead, it stays put while being flexible, and doesn't feather off the lips.  I'm actually wishing I had purchased more of these when I picked up the red.

After several days over overcoming the stomach flu I am finally back.  I decided to go bright and colorful this morning, in hopes of giving my mood a boost.  Besides the stomach bug, the weather has been gloomy too, so I'm in need of some color to brighten the day!

 

My outfit had lots of coral, purple and pink, so I thought I'd tie in my eyeshadow with it.  Today is a mix of Fyrinnae and Aromaleigh - four colors that worked extremely well together.  Aromaleigh Zinnia (the inner corner shade) actually doesn't look like much when applied, but is a gorgeous pink in the pictures.  Maybe it was the lighting in my bathroom that washed it out, but I love the pop or color below.  Here is what I used:

Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara

 

I used to be timid about bright colors, but have managed to mix them into my looks.  For instance, Electro Koi is an extremely bright orange, and although gorgeous in the pot, one might think - what do I do with this?  But, just a subtle application with some more neutral colors can really make a look stand out, without being over the top. 

 

One more thing, I just received the Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara in the mail as a freebie I signed up for on Facebook - it's a pretty good mascara giving some nice definition and length.  I will do a full review after a few more days of trial. 

A few days ago when I posted the swatches of the Avon Glow eyeliners for this summer, one of my readers (Fleurs-de-Lisa) requested an EOTD using the Desert Gold, so here you go!

Like I mentioned in the original post, these liners are surprisingly smooth and easy to use, which is a nice adjustment from some of my other Avon eyeliners I've purchased in the past.  I hope this is a new formulation that will be used moving forward, as I am really pleased with the three I picked up from the Summer Glow collection.

I love the color combination, but I was in such a hurry the morning I did this look that my blending is terrible!  At least the bottom shot gives you a good look at the Desert Gold eyeliner on.  It is such a beautiful, frosty, white-gold.  It almost has a hint of mint-green in the color as well, just as you move in the light.  If you are looking for a non-brassy gold eyeliner, this would definitely be a nice one to try out! 

An icy blue EOTD for this rainy day today!  I saw my Milani Baked eyeshadow laying lonely in my makeup drawer, so I thought I'd put a little look together around it.  Here it is...

Today's EOTD is a mixture of some of my favorite brands: Fyrinnae and Aromaleigh.  I am anxiously awaiting Fyrinnae's website to post the Halloween 2011 shades  - I am sure they are gorgeous!

I did a mediocre job at blending, but I find that happens when I'm in hurry - imagine that!  I love Newcastle - not only is it one of my favorite beers, but also one of my hands down favorites of Fyrinnae's.  The pictures above don't even do it justice.  It's just gorgeous.

I decided to dabble in some of shadows I ordered from my most recent Aromaleigh purchase, and here's what I came up with...

In line with yesterday's post, I thought I'd do an EOTD with the other Wet 'n Wild Dual eyeliner - this time in "Da Bomb!", which is the beautiful deep lavender color.  Talk about gorgeous, I am just loving these liners!  Like I said, this is a deeper lavender shade, with hints of periwinkle in the glitter portion of the liner - you can see the close up swatches here on my earlier post.

I know I have not been around recently, but I am working on catching up on so much needed posts.  Next week should be much better!

On a side note, I did want to post a pretty easy EOTD I did using Aromaleigh's Bamboo on the inner corner of my lid, and Aromaleigh Solange in the outer corners and crease.  I topped it off with MAC Vanilla as a highlight, some black liquid eyeliner, and The Falsie's mascara, and I'm set!

I have been having so much fun playing with my new obsession, the Aromaleigh mineral shadows I received last week.  I've discovered the shadows have so many colors and personalities - they are just gorgeous.  Ruthless Indulgence is a beautiful deep, taupey purple shade.  The color is so intense, and reflects pale pinks, golds, taupes, golds, and eggplant.  Applied over the pixie epoxy, it becomes a deep intense shade, and when applied wet, the shimmer and foiling comes out in full force.  Air & Light is a gorgeous pale white with hints of lavender and pink.  Depending on what color it is paired with, it will take on multiple personalities!  I am so impressed with the texture of the shadows.  Not only do they blend well, they are extremely pigmented and last all day.

As I mentioned earlier, I ordered a ton of colors from Aromaleigh and have taken individual pictures below.  I am loving these, in the short time I've used them.  Obviously, I really liked "Blast", since I ordered it twice!  Whoops! 

I don't have a lot to say except that I wish I had discovered Aromaleigh earlier!  The products are smooth, easily blendible, and have such a variety of colors to choose from!  Enjoy the pictures below - there will be plenty of EOTD's as we go!  These are quite beautiful!
