ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip Color "London Fog"

9:19 AM

ColourPop Cosmetics released their Ultra Satin Lip collection several weeks ago, and I picked up a couple of new shades, including this beautiful blue-toned red, called London Fog.  The texture on these is very light and not gloppy or sticky at all.  I really like semi-matte finish as well.  Not shiny like a gloss, and not completely dry/matte like the Ultra Matte Lippies.

Bitter Lace Beauty

Bitter Lace Beauty UnBirthday Highlighter and Kylie Lip Kit in Mary Jo

6:48 AM

I love discovering new indie companies and sharing them with you!  I was running through Instagram the other day, and stumbled across Bitter Lace Beauty, an adorable Etsy Shop that has a variety of highlighters to choose from.  I picked up UnBirthday, which is a gorgeous swirl of turquoise, gold, pink, coral and violet.  When brushed on the skin, it is the most beautiful and bright way of turning the lights on your skin.  I couldn't be happier with the purchase, and I know I will be going back for more!

I purchased two UnBirthday, one for me, and one for my sister.  Look at how different each one is!

Above, the UnBirthday I kept for myself.  I absolutely love all of the colors, and look at how illuminating it is!  The colors all swirl together beautifully, and make just a gorgeous color on the skin.  With precise application, you could grab any of the colors individually to use as an eye-shadow or highlight as well.

Below, UnBirthday on me.  Everything I am wearing is broken down below:

Cover Girl

FOTD: Covergirl TruNaked Goldens Pallet

9:38 AM

I posted some swatches of the new Cover Girl TruNaked Goldens pallet, and today is a quick FOTD I did using them as well.  These are gorgeous, highly compatible and blendable shadows.  Like I mentioned in the earlier post, I am blown away by the quality of these, especially when used over a base.  CoverGirl was never my "go to" drug store brand for eyeshadows, but I am absolutely loving this pallet and will definitely take a look at the other two available.  I also will say, although they are attempting to be a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked pallets, these do have some different colors in the mix, making these a lot of fun to work with!

Below is my quick cut-crease with the pallet.  I used the darkest brown for the crease, blended it into the third-from-the-left and blended that into the third-from-the-right for my crease.  The lid is the second from the right, and my highlight is the farthest to the right.  Gorgeous - a simple and easy way to create a neutral cut crease, and at a drug-store cost!

Lips are the Younique Opulence Lipstick in Stuck Up.  Cheeks is the Nars Orgasm blush.

Swatches: CoverGirl TruNaked Golden's Pallet

9:00 AM

CoverGirl has introduced a new eyeshadow pallet targeting the Urban Decay Naked series.  There are three pallets (Goldens, Roses and Nudes).  I instantly went towards the Goldens, so I had to buy them to try it out.  These retail around $10-$12, depending on where you purchase.

These truly are beautiful.  Talk about compatible, shimmer-filled, gorgeousness.

I have tried CoverGirl shadows before only to be disappointed at the texture and pigmentation.  Let me just tell you, that is not the case here.  These shadows couldn't be more pigmented and blendable.  I used the Cinderella eyeshadow primer that is available at Walgreens (this stuff is amazing if you haven't tried it, and only $2.99!)

Swatches are below over the primer.  There is also a video to try and capture the sparkle and duochorome of some of the colors.  I will also post a couple of FOTD's using these!

Have you picked up any of these pallets?  What do you think?

FOTD: Urban Decay Vice 3 (Downfall, Heroine, Bobby Dazzle) and Urban Decay Vice LTD Disco

3:57 PM

I have absolutely fallen in love with my two Urban Decal pallets from Christmas.  Dragon might be the best green I've worked with in a long time (used it here), but I am also loving the matte shadows in both of these sets.  I don't typically go for mattes, but I am learning how to use them to blend into creases and create some different combinations with them, although it has been a struggle because most brands matte shadows are so chalky and difficult to work with.  Not so much with UD!

I have been eyeing Heroine in the Vice3 pallet, but typically don't wear blues.  I decided to mix it with Disco and a whole lot of glitter to have some fun!

Here is the look, below:

Face:
L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation - N1
L'Oreal True Match Powder N1
Mally Bronzer - contour
Mally Beauty AirBrush Blush "Afterglow"
Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder "Conceited" - highlight - BTW, if you haven't check out Artist Couture, you absolutely have to.  These will have their own post in the near future!

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Urban Decay Downfall - upper crease
Urban Decay Heroine - cut crease, blended into Downfall
Urban Decay Disco - lid
Urban Decay Bobby Dazzle - highlight

I'm not going to lie, I went ahead and woke up at 2:00 in the morning to make sure I could get my hands on the relaunch of the Urban Decay Vice LTD pallet.  In the meantime, I had already purchased the Vice 3 Pallet, and had decided it was my Christmas present to myself, so held off on using it until just now.

FOTD w/ Urban Decay Naked Pallet, Wet 'n Wild LE Pallet in Daring Downtown, Loreal Infallible in Gold Imperial, and Jordana Color Effects Eyeshadow in Green

2:17 PM

Playing around with green and gold today.  One of my favorite drugstore greens is Jordana Color Effects Eyeshadow in Green, which is truly one of the "greenest" eyeshadows I own.  It wears like iron when over a primer, and has a nice brightening shimmer. I love finding little gems like these in the drug store!

Face:
Laura Geller Spackle
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer - Light
Laura Geller Balance 'n Brighten - Fair

Urban Decay Naked Pallet - Sin - lightly blended into highlight

I almost forgot I found this lovely Wet 'n Wild on sale for 50% off during the CVS Beauty sale, which is what I am wearing in the pic above.

Aromaleigh

An Emerald Green FOTD w/ Hard Candy Space Cadet, Aromaleigh Spectacularly Ignorant, and Urban Decay Naked2 Pallet

9:28 AM

Taking a step away from my "neutral" rut I've been in recently, I decided to play matchy-matchy with my shirt and wear a rich emerald green smokey eye.  To do this, I am using an old shadow I dug up - Hard Candy Meteorite Shadow in Space Cadet (a rich emerald frost with emerald glitter), as well as Aromaleigh Spectacularly Ignorant and Urban Decay Naked2 Pallet.

For the look, here is how I did it:

Face
Laura Geller Spackle

Laura Geller Balance 'n Bronze - contour
Laura Geller Blush 'n Brighten in Golden Apricot - blush

My Thanksgiving EOTD: Younique

11:12 AM

I have been very negligent with the blog recently, simply due to life in general, and my new obsession with Instagram (find me over there at @shakeupyourmakeup and @shakeupyourmakeupscloset).  With that said, I missed working on my daily posts, so I am going to work very hard to get back up and running over the weekend, so I can get back to more of what I love  - makeup!

Quickly, here is a snapshot of my eyeshadow from earlier this week - lots of gold for Thanksgiving.  I went very smokey here, just to make it a little more elegant.

For the look, I started with Urban Decay Primer Potion.  Above the crease, I am using Buck, from the UD Naked 2 pallet, which is lightly applied.  Just below, in the crease, is Creep from the same pallet.  On the lid, I first applied Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, and then used Younique's pigment in Gorgeous (a very rich 24K gold shade).  I applied Creep to the outer corner, blending it into the lower lashline.  The light gold shade in the lower lashline is Younique's pigment in Innocent.  Top this off with a highlight in MAC's Vanilla pigment, and a random black gel eyeliner and I was finished.

My lashes are Younique's 3D Moodstruck Fiber Lash mascara, which is unbelievable.

I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving, and are enjoying some great Black Friday sales, as well as some respite from all of the food and family :)  More posts to come!

EOTD with Fyrinnae's Velvet Vampire, Urban Decay Black Out & Naked, Younique Sassy Pigment

12:39 PM

As I have been playing around with the Younique pigments, I am finding how beautiful they are.  Today's looked features "Sassy", a rich, slightly pink, berry color.  I combined this with Fyrinnae's Velvet Vampire, which has more orange/red undertones, and I absolutely love it.  Details for the look below.  Enjoy!

For the look, here is what I used:

Urban Decay Primer Potion "Greed" - all over lids
Urban Decay Naked - blended into crease and up towards brow bone
Urban Decay Black Out - blended deep into crease/into Naked as well as in outer "V"
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy - just on lid and lower lashline
Fyrinnae Velvet Vampire - blended into Black Out and in middle of lid
Younique Pigment in Sassy - blended into Velvet Vampire all the way to inner corner, lower lashline

Speaking of lashes - look at what these do for mine!  And, this is WITHOUT mascara!  I am in love.

EOTD Blue

FOTD using Younique Pigments in Empowered, Dignified, Innocent, and Beautiful as well as NYX Sunset and Urban Decay Naked 2 Blackout

9:58 AM

\

This morning's FOTD/EOTD features more Younique products...this time, their pigments.  I wanted to play around with some greens and blues, so I picked Dignified and Empowered out of my samples, as well as a matte rust brown called Beautiful.  Empowered is a very pale sea foam green with golden duochrome.  Dignified is a rich turquoise, with sparks of green, blue and gold.  I mixed these colors with NYX Sunset, a rich orange to burnt orange frost and the Blackout shade from the Urban Decay Naked 2 pallet.

The Younique pigments are very rich and, I know...shocker...PIGMENTED!  They are very smooth, creamy, and a little goes a long way.  I used the Dignified as a liner on the bottom by applying it wet, and it went on extremely smoothly and did not fall into the lines along my undereye.  The mattes applied effortlessly, without any chalkiness or grabbing and pulling on the lid.  I have been extremely impressed with how well the shadows blend together, to create that seamless transition between colors.

On top of how workable these pigments are, let me tell you a few more things about them:

-  They are 100% Natural
-  They are chemical free
-  Mineral based
-  They are free of talc oils, preservatives, perfumes, synthetic dyes and parabens
-  No creasing, smudging or smearing!

At $10 a pop, these are going to last you a very long time, and are very versatile.  I can't wait to create some more looks and share them with you!

FOTD: Urban Decay Naked2 Pallet

2:32 PM

After months...well make that years...of wishing I had the Urban Decay Naked pallets, I finally bit the bullet and purchased all three about a week ago.  Recently I have stepped away from neutrals and been using a lot more color with my eyeshadows, but there is something about bold looks using neutral shades that I love.

To create the look here, I used the original UDPP all over my lid.  Above the crease, I gently applied Tease, which is a matte milk chocolate color.  I then took Snake Bite and applied that underneath, closer to the actual crease.  Black Out is applied right at the crease and outer "V", with YDK in the middle of the lid and Half Baked applied in the inner corner.  Finished the look off with a black eyeliner (NYX) and my Younique 3D Moodstruck lashes and I was set!

Dupes

Spotted at Walgreens: Profusion Perfect 10 Eyeshadow Pallets - Urban Decay Naked Dupes??

10:28 AM

Walgreens has started putting out their holiday beauty products, and this one instantly caught my eye on an end cap.  It is by Profusion, called the Perfect Ten eyeshadow pallet.  There were two pallets, each retailing at $4.99.

The first pallet, below, was called Midnight Fever and consisted of 10 shimmery colors, leaning more taupe and gray.

The second pallet, called Sultry and Neutral, has half shimmery and half matte colors.  Most of the mattes were the light shades, where the shimmery shades were goldens and bronzes.

I picked up both of these and will swatch them, hopefully tonight.  I didn't have the chance to do so last night for you guys.

Gorgeous, aren't they?  The colors look really good and smooth, but only a swatch will tell!
