My 4th of July FOTD using Fyrinnae & Aromaleigh

10:30 AM

I seem to be on a bit of a Fyrinnae kick recently.  I guess after days of wearing little to no makeup due to the heat, I'm making up for last time and my need for a sparkle fix!

For the 4th of July I mixed it up with Fyrinnae (Arcane Magic Glitterboi), Aromaleigh (Tangled Tinsel & Elena Marguerite) and LA Splash Diamond Dust in Superb to create a relatively patriotic red, white/silver and blue look.  Here is what I used:

Face:
Laura Geller Champagne Spackle Primer
Laura Geller Balance 'n Brighten - Regular
Mally Bronzer
NARS Blush in Super Orgasm

Eyes:
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy - all over lid
LA Splash Diamond Dust - Superb - outer corner into crease
Fyrinnae Arcane Magic in Glitterboi - ontop of LA Splash on outer corner
Aromaleigh Elena Marguerite - middle of lid up into crease, blended into the blue
Aromaleigh Tangled Tinsel - crease and along lowerlashline
Milani Liquif'eye Eyeliner - Silver - lower lashline
Physicians Formula Gel Eyeliner in Black
Rimmel Extra Lash Wow Mascara - Black

Lips
Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter - Candy Apple

I hope you all have a nice weekend!

LA Splash at Walgreens?

8:00 AM

Look at what I stumbled across when visiting my local Walgreens yesterday....

Who knew that Walgreens was carrying this?  Not only was my Walgreens totally revamped with new displays, but now we have new products?  What fun!

I'm sure you all know how much I love these liners and mascaras, as I have reviewed them numerous times, but just as a refresher, click here to see my posts.

I love finding new goodies!

Bare Escentuals

FOTD/Review Using Revlon PhotoReady Foundation "Ivory", Bare Escentuals Beautiful Autumn, and LA Splash "Regal"

1:02 PM

Whoops!  I meant to post this so much earlier!  I guess I forgot to set up the automatic posting!

Anyways, here is quick look using the Revlon PhotoReady Foundation in Ivory.  As I mentioned in my previous post about this product, it does a great job of covering and creating a natural and smooth finish.  I really like the little bit of reflection or glow this creates.  It really makes the skin look healthy and smooth.  The foundation blended into my skin along the chin and hairline effortlessly, so I didn't have that "mask" that a lot of people complain about with liquid foundations.  My only complaint is a personal one, and that is that I'm not as quick and proficient with liquid foundation as I used to be, so this took a little getting used to!

Face:
Revlon PhotoReady Foundation - Ivory
Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil - setting powder

Eyes:
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Bare Escentuals "Beautiful Autumn" - inner corner
LA Splash Cosmetics "Regal" - outer corner/crease
LA Splash Cosmetics "Nude Diamonds" - high light
Prestige My Blackest Lashes Mascara

Lips:
e.l.f. Luscious Liquid Lipstick "Raspberry"

Retail Price: $11.99 - $13.99

Where to purchase: CVS, Walgreens, Walmart...anywhere that carries Revlon
Product: 4 out of 5
Price: 4 out of 5
Packaging: 4 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5
Would I purchase again?  Although I am not a liquid foundation user, if I had to rely on one to get me through, I would choose this.  The product sets well, it doesn't oxidize once it is applied (no turning orange), and you can use any type of setting powder (I used Mineral Veil).  The coverage was medium, but definitely buildable, and again, I like the luminosity it gives the skin.  Most importantly, this is the first liquid foundation I've found at the drug store which matches my skin.

A Springy EOTD: Fyrinnae Kimchi, Dressed to Kill, and Damn Paladins

8:00 AM

I have fallen in love with color again...after weeks of wearing either neutrals or basic smokey grays, I've decided that regardless of the fact that Puxatony Phil saw his shadow, I'm asking for spring to come fast and furiously!

So, at my attempt to entice Spring to make an enterance early, I decided to play around with some Fyrinnae shades that have sat idle in my drawer for some time.  The colors I chose probably wouldn't have gone together if I hadn't been wearing a shirt that had a watercolor-floral print of peaches, pinks, greens and yellows.  I chose Fyrinnae Kimchi, Fyrinnae Dressed to Kill, and Fyrinnae Damn Paladins.  Kimchi looks almost matte with flecks of glitter in the pot, but once it is applied, especially over Pixie Epoxy, it is absolutely stunning.  Dressed to Kill is probably one of my favorite colors - this is an absolutely perfect olive green with tons of golden green shimmer and sparkle.  It is beautiful applied dry, over PE, or wet (I used PE and wet here).  Damn Paladins adapted to a more golden yellow hue in this look, where it is actually a beautiful pale golden taupe with bluish glitter in the pot.

I tell you what, those Fyrinnae shadows always put on a show!  Below is how I applied.

Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy - all over lid
Fyrinnae Damn Paladins - inner corner, lower lashline
Fyrinnae Kimchi - middle of lid
Fyrinnae Dressed to Kill - outer corner, crease, wet as eyeliner
LA Splash Nude Diamonds - highlight
LashBlast Mascara

FOTD: Fyrinnae Otherworld, Geek Glam, and Sassy Minerals Fierce

8:00 AM

The sun is finally out here in the midwest, so as a tribute to the bright blue skies, I decided to venture outside of the neutrals I've been wearing lately into my Fyrinnae and Sassy Mineral stash to play with some color.  I decided to use Fyrinnae Otherworld, Geek Glam and Sassy Minerals Fierce, along with LA Splash Nude Diamonds.  As an added bonus, I finally got to use my Milani Infinate Liquid Eyeliner in Endless.

I have to preface this with a disclaimer:  I did rush through this look because I was in a hurry, but you at least get the general idea.  I do think I could have blended better, and cleaned up some of the fall out, so I will have to keep special attention to that next time.

Here are the shades I used:

Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy - all over lid
Fyrinnae Otherworld - inner corner, lower lashline
Fyrinnae Geek Glam - middle of lid
Sassy Minerals Fierce - outer corner and into crease, blended with Otherworld
LA Splash Nude Diamonds - highlight
Milani Infinate Liquid Eyeliner "Endless" - lashline
Lashblast Mascara

I find it odd how blending the Otherworld into Fierce made it turn out to be blacker(?) in the picture, and in person for that matter.  Fierce is a warmer purple, but I wanted to add that light turquoise over the top - I don't think I'll do that next time.  I am loving the purple color of Milani's eyeliner in Endless - this is truely purple, and nothing more - it doesn't look black, it doesn't look brown, it's p-u-r-p-l-e, and I love it!

EOTD: LA Splash Unsolved, Regal and Nude Diamonds

8:00 AM

A while back I wrote about the new LA Splash Cosmetics I found at Meijer and have been meaning to post more pictures of them on, and just haven't gotten around to it.  Well, I finally did, so I wanted to show you how beautiful these are.

The color I use the most is Regal.  It reminds me a lot of Bare Escentuals Sex Kitten, but just a hint lighter and with a bit more pearl shimmer to it.  This shade makes a great liner and crease color.  It is truely a deep copper penny color, and has all the shine and shimmer of a new penny!  Unsolved is a very different color.  It isn't quite as dark as Regal, but has the same depth of color.  Unsolved is a very shimmery plum/copper shade - again, this would make a great liner as well.  Finally Nude Diamonds is exactly what it sounds like.  If you could combined crushed pearls and crushed diamonds, this shade would be exactly that!  A beautiful high light, I also use this to add a little shimmer anywhere (lips, cheeks, and eyes).

EOTD:
LA Splash Unsolved - inner corner of lid
LA Splash Regal - outer corner, crease and wet as eyeliner
LA Splash Nude Diamonds - highlight

LA Splash EOTD - Nude Diamonds, Regal, and Enchanged Forest

10:46 AM

I have to say, I am loving these LA Splash eyeshadows. I tend to be drawn into loose shadows, and when they are shimmery, versatile, and easy to use, that is always an added plus!

In order to give these guys a test drive, I decided to work with Nude Diamonds, Regal, and En Enchanted Forest. Nude Diamonds makes the most beautiful all over color, especially up against the brown bone as a highlight. It is a pearly, ivory, with a hint of peach (just a hint!), so it blends well into the skin without looking chalky or overly-white. Regal, the beautiful deep chocolate/copper brown makes the perfect crease color. I had originally purchased this to use wet as an eyeliner, but decided to try it out in the crease. It blended beautifully into the other colors, didn't have much fall out, and lasted all day. Finally, I used Enchanted Forest as my liner, applying it wet with Bare Escentuals Weather Everything eyeshadow-transformer. Finish it off with some Lash Blast mascara, and there you go!

LA Splash Cosmetics - Eyeshadow Swatches

8:00 AM

Have any of you ever heard of L.A. Splash Cosmetics? (Their website is up, but not officially running yet). I'll be honest, I had not heard of these until I found some at my Ulta, as well as my local Meijer store. They come in a variety of colors, very similar to the size of a Bare Escentuals eyeshadow.

Each of these are very shimmery, and some have a hit of very fine glitter in them. The colors are very bold, pigmented, and can be used as a shadow or liner, depending on if you use them wet or dry. For approximately $5 a piece, these are very affordable, and versatile.

Below there are pictures of each shadow, as well as wet and dry swatches.

Golden Smoke: A chalky black with golden shimmer.

Enchanted Forest: A beautiful deep emerald green with iridescent green/blue and gold shimmer.

Supurb: Deep sapphire blue with shimmer.

Unsolved: A beautiful garnet red and platinum color, with hints of golden/beige.

Nude Diamonds: A very warm ivory with crushed pearl shimmer.

Regal: Deep copper with golden shimmer. (the color does not show through correctly in the picture below).
Platinum Sand: Beautiful, shimmery beige - just as the name says!

Dragon Dust: Very deep black with tons of golden shimmer.
