Review: Aveeno Positively Ageless Youth Perfecting Moisturizer

9:00 AM

Last but not least on my Aveeno lineup this week: Aveeno's Positively Ageless Youth Perfecting Moisturizer.
A nourishing lotion shown to reveal younger-looking skin and help prevent premature skin aging with advanced sun protection. You will see:
- Reduced appearance of lines and wrinkles
- Younger-looking, more vibrant skin
- Softer, smoother skin.
Something I think important to us all is SPF.  The Youth Perfecting Moisturizer has SPF 30, so not only does this product help make the skin look more youthful, it helps protect the new skin cells that are being produced.

Like the Lifting and Firming eye cream, this product is also in a pump applicator.  Again, I can't stress enough how big of a "plus" this is for me with regards to face lotions and treatments.

Below I applied a pump of the moisturizer and the eye cream on my hand.  As you can see this is a thicker, whiter, cream.  Because of the increased SPF in the moisturizer, this has more of the consistency of a sunscreen, without the greasiness.

Aveeno's Positively Ageless Youth Perfecting Moisturizer is thick, rich, and very moisturizing.  The fragrance is fresh, with a hint of that "sunscreen" smell, but it is not overpowering.  My skin is normal, to almost dry in the winter months.  The consistency is similar to a sunscreen (maybe a bit thicker), so it does take a bit for the product to sink into the skin.  I have to keep in mind before I apply my primer and/or foundation.  My skin feels softer and healthier after application.  I have started to use this more on my neck and chin as well - an area I often forget when applying my moisturizer!
I have been using this for the past three weeks.  Although I haven't seen drastic changes in my skin's imperfections (outside of those mentioned yesterday with my fine lines and dark circles), I like the overall feel of my skin after application and use.  I will say, I've noticed a slight irritation in my eyes right after application if I rub it in near my eyes, and I'm sure this has to do with the sunscreen/SPF in the product.  It usually lasts an hour or so, until my eyes flush out whatever part of the moisturizer is irritating them.  Keep that in mind if you tend to be more sensitive to products around your eyes.
Overall, the product leave skin soft and has the benefits of SPF30.  With that said, the richness of this moisturizer makes it's use a bit time consuming in my morning routine.  Also, the concern of applying it around my eyes and having the irritating burn is a turn off as well.  Although I like how my skin feels from it's use, I doubt I will purchase this one again.  I wish I didn't have such sensitive skin and eyes, because this feels like the right moisturizer for me here in the winter months when my skin tends to get extremely dry and finicky.
Have you tried this moisturizer?

Everyday Naturals Lemon Symphony No. 1 Natural Cuticle Butter

1:44 PM

I absolutely adore all things lemon. There is something about it, which probably stems from my youth and a little product called "Love's Fresh Lemon".  Every day I would give myself a spritz of that fresh citrus scent, and now that I'm all grown up, I still look for a fresh lemon scent to pick me up.

Recently, an online e-tailer by the name of Everyday Naturals (of Everyday Minerals if you enjoy their mineral makeup) had a cuticle butter in a lemon scent.  Somehow or another I missed out on this little guy, but luckily my mom didn't, so I now am the proud owner of this little pot of lemony goodness.

The product came wrapped in a little cotton pull-tie bag.  I am actually keeping this in it, because the bag makes the stuff easier to find in my bottomless pit of a purse.  The product, Everyday Naturals Lemon Symphony No. 1: The Romance of the Cuticle is described as the following on their website:

Super concentrated for intense hydration -- a must for cuticles. You will find yourself enraptured by the refreshing lemony scent. Indulge your cuticles with rain forest Brazilian butters for the ultimate in moisturization. We also included plant oils, Pumpkin and Argan to make it extra fantastic!

This comes in a 0.37 oz pot, and retails for $4.00.

Now, this is indeed lemon scented, but because it is a butter, I picked up some vanilla and other "warm" fragrance in the product as well.  It is rick and thick.

When I stick my nail in it, you can see how dense the product is.  This isn't a cream, or a lotion, or a typical cuticle product.  This is definitely reminiscent of the consistency of Carmex Lip Treatment in the pot.  Intense.  Fragrant.  And yes, definitely moisturizing and nourishing on my cuticles.

A little goes a long way.  Don't think you are getting ripped off by such a little pot.  This stuff is truly intense, and that bit on my finger tip there will be enough to nourish one hand of dry cuticles.  The product isn't overly oily either - meaning it doesn't leave a long lasting residue on your hands once you've put it on.  Give it about 5 minutes, and you are good to go.

I've been using this for about two weeks now, and it is definitely helping my cuticles.  Now, I know this isn't a treatment, per say, but because I love the fragrance so much, I am inclined to put it on first thing in the morning every day.  Typically, I throw on some moisturizer, but my hands are dry by mid-morning.  With this, my cuticles stay moisturized, I haven't had nearly as many hang nails or snags, and my nails are looking much better.

Do you need it?  If you love lemon like me, I'd definitely say it's worth the $4 splurge to try it out.  Better yet, do some shopping with their mineral makeup as well!  They have some beautiful colors, and I'm particularly partial to their blushes.  Theme Park is a beauty!

Review: Yves Rocher Inositol Végétal Daily Moisturizer

8:35 AM

Thanks to the lovely Toma, I won a jar of Yves Rocher Inositol Végétal Daily Moisturizer! Now, I must admit, I am an Avon girl through and through when it comes to skin care, but I was intrigued by how natural and botanical Yves Rocher's items are, so I was so excited when I received the email that I won this item.

From the Yves Rocher website:

Hydrate and smooth out 1st signs of aging!
Noticing little expression lines? Seeing the start of your first wrinkle? Wondering where the radiance has gone? After cleansing, start targeting early signs of aging with Optimizing Moisturizer Day for 1st Lines. This velvety daily moisturizer smooths onto skin, leaving a matte, non-oily feel while erasing the appearance of lines, dullness, and fatigue. Witness improved radiance and smoother skin. This moisturizer contains botanical inositol developed from green rice using the newest eco-friendly production and packaging standards.

Discover Inositol Végétal
From the heart of Green Rice, an excellent botanical model for skin's cellular respiration. Yves Rocher Bio-Végétal Laboratories isolated and extracted Inositol Végétal. This molecule energizes and oxygenates the skin to improve three key skin functions: moisturizing, protection, and self-repair.

Size: 1.35 fl. oz.

Pros:
My biggest complaint about moisturizers is that they leave a greasy or "wet" feeling after it has soaked in, and makes it very difficult to apply my mineral foundations afterwards, even with a primer. This product by Yves Rocher soaks into the skin, and because it is oil-free, there is no residue afterwards - perfect for morning use before your makeup application! The fragrance is wonderful, and it is extremely light weight, making this perfect for summer! My skin feels refreshed and moisturized!

The packaging is great, as well. A lot of times I notice that it is difficult to get moisturizer out of a jar package, so I tend to lean towards pumps. This has a nice, open jar, which allows you to access all of the remaining lotion once you are towards the end of the product.

Cons:
I can't think of any so far - this is great!

Would I purchase again? Definitely! This has definitely given my love for Avon a run for the money!
