Cover Girl

Swatches: Cover Girl BlastFlipstick in Glimmer 810

9:56 AM

A while back CoverGirl extended their Blast line into double ended lipsticks.  This bad boy has been sitting on my vanity for months, so I thought it was about time to swatch it - CoverGirl Blast Flipstick in Glimmer 810.

The CoverGirl Blast Flipsticks are double ended lipsticks - one shimmer and one cream shade.  Both are complimentary, so you can wear them on their own, or layer them to create three customer colors.

Spotted at Meijer: Maybelline Exotic Escape Collection 2012

9:53 AM

Another new collection spotted at Meijer this past weekend - the Maybelline Exotic Escape Summer 2012 Collection.  This is a set of 5 eyeliners, 5 eyeshadow sets, 5 lipsticks and one blush.  These colors are very bright and tropical, so if you are looking for something a bit bolder now that the weather is starting to warm up, these might be just the thing.

Color Club

Spotted at Meijer: New Color Club Magnetic Polishes

10:39 AM

The Meijer I do my usual grocery shopping in has finally restocked with some new cosmetics and nailpolish, so I have quite a few things to post here.  First up, some Color Club.  I'm so happy to see these finally stocked on a regular basis, instead of just in little holiday packs.  I read about and see this brand on blogs all the time, and have never found anywhere to purchase until now.

Meijer had a huge end cap/rack of Color Club's Magnetic Polishes in a variety of shades.  I took closeups below, as well as purchased two (Hipnotic and Sci-Fi) so I'll post pictures and reviews of those once I am able to swatch them.  There are a total of 6 colors to choose from on this display.  Price for each was $5.99 a bottle, which was more than regular Color Club polishes ($3.99 a piece at Meijer), but I believe these are bigger bottles, although I could be wrong.

NOTD Blues

NOTD: Studio M "On the Hunt" and Wet 'n Wild Be Jeweled "Speak When Spoken To"

9:33 AM

Today's NOTD is a mix of two polishes that have been sitting on my counter for a while: Studio M's "On the Hunt" from their Spring/Easter collection and Wet 'n Wild's "Speak When Spoken To" which is from the Be Jeweled Collection.

Studio M's On the Hunt is a very pale turquoise with the slightest golden shimmer.  Speak When Spoken To is a blue and purple duochrome glitter with round rainbow glitter throughout.  When layered, this is a really pretty combination.  I took pictures in different lighting and angles below in hopes of capturing the different colors.  Enjoy!

Sorry for the delay...

10:13 AM

Sorry for the delay in posting.  I have been extremely busy and have not had the chance to get regular posts up.  I am going to be working on that today and tomorrow, so hopefully things will be back in order shortly...

Thanks for your patience!

Spotted at Walgreens: New Sally Hansen Salon Effects Pedicure Strips

9:41 AM

Brilliant Sally Hansen...brilliant.  Spotted at Walgreens last week, the new pedicure version of the Sally Hansen Salon effect Strips.   I love the patterns, the colors, the whole deal.

Now, could you just come out with some strips for French tips?  I have the hardest time making straight lines, no matter what types of pens, stickers and guides are available.  This would make my life a whole lot easier!

Spotted at Walgreens: New Revlon Scented Treats Nail Polish

10:07 AM

I spotted the new Limited Edition nail polish collection from Revlon, which are very pretty pale cremes.  The display has macaroons on it, and I couldn't have picked a better "treat" to represent the colors.  This display has been shopped quite well, so I wasn't able to get a picture of all the colors, but from what I can see here there is a lemon creme, pale lavender creme, grape/purple creme, orange creme, coral creme, a mint creme (based on the display piece), and a nude/peach creme.

Have you seen these yet?

NOTD: Studio M for Meijer "Cute Chick"

10:46 AM

I snagged this Studio M polish half off the other day when I was getting groceries at Meijer.  I believe it's from their spring/Easter collection and at $1.49 I had to pick it up.

Cute Chick is a very pale metallic lavender-pink with iridescent microglitter throughout.  I'd say there are even traces of tiny flakies in it too.

Here's a closeup of the side, so you can see the color and the shimmer.

Below is three coats.  This is a very sheer, thin polish.  It's a beautiful color and a nice way to wear color in a subtle way.  This would also be beautiful layered ontop of another color: purple, black, white, etc...

I wanted to try and capture the shimmer in this polish, but my camera died, so I snapped a few shots with my camera phone.  They aren't quite as hi-res as the others, but you get the point.

Like I've said, I really like the color selection of the Studio M polishes.  Yes, they aren't quite as pigmented as some others, but for $2.99 a piece, the selection is nice!

Spotted at Walgreens: Sinful "Make Some Noise" Neon Collection

2:49 PM

A quick look at the neon's out for spring/summer from Sinful Colors.  These are VERY bright!  even the nail art polishes are bright and colorful!  I was tempted by the orange, but decided to stick with just snapping a picture so I could go back and check my collection for dupes...

Have you seen these yet?

Retail - $1.99 at Walgreens.

Peter Thomas Roth

Peter Thomas Roth Laser Free Regenerator

11:27 AM

Last month when I opened up my New Beauty Test Tube from QVC, there was a jar of Peter Thomas Roth's Laser Free Regenerator Moisturizing Gel Cream.  I have been anxious to try Peter Thomas Roth for a while, so I thought this was a great opportunity to give a facial moisturizer a go.

First, a snapshot from Sephora, who carries Peter Thomas Roth.

The consistency truly is that of a gel. It is a translucent red/coral colored gel. It is thick, definitely moisturizing, but not sticky or wet at all. Actually, I was surprised at how it felt when I applied it.  The first thing I noticed - it wasn't cold when I touched it to my skin.  In fact, it felt almost luke warm.  It is the weirdest sensation, mostly because I am used to how cool a moisturizer feels when first touched to the skin.  Secondly, rich but light.  It almost feels as though I've moisturized my skin and then put on a silicone based primer like Smashbox or the Monistat Anti-Chafing Gel.  My skin feels young, moisturized and so soft!  I honestly think this can be used as your moisturizer AND your primer in one - what a concept!

Above is a picture of the consistency, and then below is a snapshot of the side of the box with details about the product and what is designed to do.

Have you tried this?  What did you think?

I will say, I love this product.  It works really well on my skin, leaves it feeling smooth and ready to go with makeup - no sticky feeling or residue afterwards.  A full size is 1.0 oz and retails for $68 on Sephora's website.

NOTD Glitter

NOTD: Wet 'n Wild Born Into Privilege

10:16 AM

Today's NOTD is from Wet 'n Wild's Be Jeweled Collection, called Born Into Privilege.  This is a very pale olive/light green that shifts between gold and silver.  The base glitter is a very fine gold, silver, and green glitter with larger hexagonal multi-colored glitters.  The base shade reminded me of a very sparkly and washed out Chanel Peridot.

Below is three coats.  This would be beautiful on top of a black base as well as a pale olive green base.  The formula was smooth, thin and easy to layer if needed.
